Coming down to Vegas with a buddy for EDC in June so basically hitting Vegas but not actually doing it since we'll be at the speedway the entire time. Any advice/thoughts regarding this? Never actually traveled this far for a EDM show (excluding burning man, which I wouldn't really call a show) so this is new territory for me. I"m seriously considering this hangover bus I've been hearing about at the end of the weekend, ever done it? http://www.geekologie.com/2012/04/iv-drip-dispensing-bus-helps-relieve-han.php

Okay, so I'm doing my room reservationa and paying for it ahead of time. (I got a standard "deluxe" room) When I get there, what's the proper way to ask for a nicer room? Give the person at the desk a $20 and hope for the best? I sound like such a loser but I've never planned a trip like this on my own, I've always gone with groups where everything was already arranged. On the one hand, how much time will I actually be spending in my room? On the other hand, I'd like to stay in a nice room, in a nice hotel. I don't get to go on many amazing vacations and I'd like to make it count.

Great thread - I'm heading to Vegas for the first time at end of July and will be there for my birthday. Being a car person, was interested in either doing the World Class Driving (drive 5 supercars out to the Hoover drat or back from the dam (https://www.worldclassdriving.com ). Have any of you guys done this? I have read on a few sites, depending on whether you do the Red Rock tour or the Hoover drat tour, you maybe get 1 to 2hrs of driving (the other time is made up of briefing and shuttle etc). The other option is to go to Vegas Luxury Rides - where you can hire a Ferrari/Lambo/Audi R8/Porsche/Merc convertible etc for the same price and have the car for 4-6hrs. Although being very hot this time of year, probably better to do early in morning or late in the afternoon. There's also the exoticsracing.com which is supercar track racing - but I would prefer to see the sights rather than racing around a track. Anyone done this?

Me and a friend are flying out to Vegas for the first time also (albeit from separate cities). Not too sure about the bus thing, but I know they have water fountains all over to fill up on. I plan to use this as much as possible so I'll stay hydrated and can drink for 3 days straight.

Just arrived in Vegas for a gay volleyball tournament (no homo). Everything is still up in the air, including how serious we're going to take this and therefore which nights we can go out. But we're here for 5 nights so there's definitely going to be some. I really should have done some planning earlier. Suggestions for clubs? I think the main thing is we don't want to wait in line forever, and I don't know that we can do bottle service. I know one friend would be okay with it, and one would not (he's very cheap), and I don't know the other teammates we're meeting up with, or if we're even hanging out with them. Somewhere with enough girls that we'll be able to dance with them, music doesn't matter too much, and we're staying at the Trop but pretty willing to walk or cab wherever. We can dress up however, we've got everything from shorts to suits. Best nights for going out are probably Friday or Sunday. Maybe Monday. I see the Hooters advertises a $10 prime rib dinner. Is this good like the Ellis Island deal? It's much closer and I prefer Prime Rib anyway. I will definitely be hitting up Lotus of Siam a couple times, but are there any interesting but cheap/reasonable food options on the south end of the strip? Its just me and the cheap friend til tomorrow. We're okay with walking a decent distance. Also if you lean that way the Trop is going to be packed with gay dudes all weekend. My mate and I from Australia will be over in Las Vegas from the 6th to the 9th of July. We are both 24 and will be backpacking. We're trying to decide whether to book rooms at the Imperial Palace due to it being dirt cheap or whether we should book into a hostel off the strip. We're not tight arses and will be drinking and gambling, but we aren't interested in going to exclusive clubs, table service etc. due to our limited budget. With that being said, would we be better off staying at a hostel and meeting other backpackers or go to the Imperial Palace and try our luck with meeting people in the casinos and not-so-exclusive bars? I don't have experience with hostels in Vegas and I'm not sure what they're charging, but for that extra little bit of money per night (and probably not all that much), you could get a nicer room with a bathroom and have access in the same building to pretty much everything you'd need. I'd probably opt for the hostel. You shouldn't have trouble meeting people regardless of where you are in Vegas.

It took an hour one night to get to the strip on bus because there's so many people getting on every stop and it became a major pain in the arse.

Heading down to Vegas in a few weeks (June 18-21), looking forward to it. It's my second trip, first time down we did jack squat .. kind of embarrassing. Second trip however, we are going down with 4 women and 4 guys. Had a few questions. Getting into clubs, would it be easier to get in as a group, or to go separately (Guys/Girls)? What's the best time to go to said clubs? Late? Early? Do most people walk around in shorts/tshirt/flip flops during the day? Thanks for the help.

Because of this, we're looking to do our trip on the wayyy cheap if possible XD our hotel and trip are covered, but I'm wondering where the best places to eat for really cheap are, especially any good buffets that are cheap. Also, we're going to be out there for a full week, obviously we have some money, but we're wondering if there's any good free entertainment we should try and catch on the weekdays. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Following everyone else about Vegas on a budget, what's the best way to get the cheapest tickets for shows? Wife and I are leaving for Vegas today, we'd like to see a show or two but, to be honest, we're not that picky. Whatever we can get tickets to for a good price we'll go to. Bill's (hotel where we're staying) has a http://www.tix4tonight.com/ booth which says it releases tickets 1/2 off which might work. Has anyone had experience with them? Worthwhile? Would a walkup to the ticketbooth close to the start time be advisable? For example, Wayne Brady is doing a show at the Mirage at 10PM tonight. If we were to pop in at 9:30PM and ask at the ticketbooth for cheap tickets, if they're available, do they release them for cheaper?

I mentioned this in the other Las Vegas thread, but I have some recommendations for Vegas on a budget. Entertainment: Treasure Island has a free show, I believe it's a few times a night called Sirens of TI The fountains at Bellagio are kind of fun and happening all the time Flamingo habitat area at Flamingo if you like birds Fremont experience, of course Food: There is a place called Stage Door a few steps off the strip where you can get a Nathan's hot dog and a beer for $2.50 the address is 4000 Audrie St. Its walking distance and wonderful Fat burger (for those really hazy nights where you just want to munch down on greasy goodness) If you are downtown, off of fremont a little bit is Main Street station with Triple 7 brewery, cheap pints of good beer, even cheaper if you go to the bar in the casino area, or you can go to the nice little restaurant, beers cost a tad more in there for some reason, but still not expensive

Thanks in advance for any tips. The Buffet of Buffets is a pretty good deal: http://www.caesars.com/total/las-vegas/buffet-of-buffets/ $45 if you sign up for their free rewards card, or $50 otherwise. You get 24 hours of entry into any of 6 buffets (Rio, Harrah's, Paris, Flamingo, Planet Hollywood, Imperial Palace). If you time it right, you can get breakfast, lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next day, which is a pretty good deal. (Although honestly after doing breakfast you can probably last until dinner...) roop posted:Following everyone else about Vegas on a budget, what's the best way to get the cheapest tickets for shows? I used them for Penn & Teller tickets and they were great. Rio box office told me Balcony seats on the side and 5th level would run me $92 each (this was ~ 8 hours before showtime). Tix4tonight got me 4th level center for $52 each! They had just about every show on the strip, based on their lists I saw. The one downside is that the tickets you buy are will-call at the box office. The seats you get are based upon the time you pick up the tickets, not purchase them. So I recommend you buy your tickets at Bill's early, then go immediately to the casino for your show and pick up the tickets to get the best seats. It is a bit of a pain, but well worth it in my opinion. I was there memorial day weekend so it was super crowded and not sold out shows seemed unlikely. It's possible during the week that you might fare better at the box office, but I don't have experience with that.

I'll be going back to Las Vegas for the fourth time very soon (mid July). This time I'll be there for 17 days total as I'm speaking at a few conferences. So one major thing is on my mind this time, good food. Does anyone know where I can buy some fruit? None of the convinence stores on the strip seem to sell much and I'm happy to take a taxi out to a supermarket or walmart or whatever. I just don't know where I should go and would hate to end up somewhere that just sells roll ups. My searches on target.com, walmart.com etc lead me to beleive none of them sell fresh food. I'd really appreciate any advice on this one. EDIT: If anyone could also reccomend a good liquor store with wide selection, decent prices etc... That would be just great. yoloer420 fucked around with this message at 01:59 on Jun 3, 2012 |

We also have the Fresh & Easy and other natural-type stores, but none of those are 24 hours. There's also Sunflower Market, which isn't close to the strip and probably not worth the extra cab fare, but I know a few people who swear by that place for produce. As for liquor stores - I don't drink, but Lee's Discount Liquors has been voted Best In Vegas by the Review Journal for the last like 210801832 years in a row.

I'm planning my third trip to Vegas in August / Early September. This will be my first solo trip, and I'm only looking to stay Friday through Monday. This might sound dumb, but should I even book a hotel in advance? I barley stayed in the room the first two trips when I was younger. I figure, if I want some 15 hour sleep session and a shower I'll just rent a room in a poo poo hotel off the strip and save in the long run. I could probably just couch surf.

At the end of July I'm going to be heading through Vegas as part of a much longer road trip. I will have a car. I will be solo. I will probably look at staying for 2 nights (one wouldnt really work out as I'm probably coming from the coast the day of). I'd probably say I'm pretty happy spending around 100-150 a night for a room. The rest of my road trip involves camping and couchsurfing so a nice bed will be great. What are some good ideas for the solo 24 year old Australia in Vegas and in particular are there specific hotels that cater better to me? I will be gambling because I'm a pretty big degenerate here in Sydney. That said I'm also not planning on going too hard because I have a couple of months travelling to go along with after.
