Blackjack tables. Find the low buy-ins, usually $5. To start go to O'sheas on the strip. They have low cost tables and very friendly dealers. Lots of college kids gamble there so it's a good place to meet people. With a good dealer you usually get some tips/help with hands and odds and can play for a while on $20. At the up-scale casinos you'll get dealers that are all business, not fun. Then, when you feel bold, go find a craps table at some casino with lots of happy looking older dudes standing around. Craps players usually put down some serious money because it's the most ridiculous gambling game ever conceived. Tell them you have no idea what you're doing and they'll help you make the best bets you can, they'll cheer you on too. Then, when you lose all of your money in five minutes at craps, go back to blackjack and make some more craps money. In the long run, the best place to meet people will be at blackjack tables.
