I'm going to spend the weekend in Vegas in a couple of weeks, and I'm wondering about activities/shows/shopping etc. What are good areas for shopping (looking for upscale clothes, electronics and hiking gear)? What are good clubs for picking up girls, or what other places are good for meeting people who want to party?

I've heard that the first weekends of December in Las Vegas are the worst of the year, because it's mostly empty and many of the shows are on hiatus/retooling. Is there any accuracy to that?

Ugh we are going this monday till thursday. Its not that I dont want to go, its just we planned on going with my girlfriends parents and they had to back out after we got rooms and tickets. So instead of losing 400 bucks on our deal, my girlfriend and I decided to still go on our own.

Honestly I want to limit my spending to 1k. So I am assuming not much gambling? Shows are actually pretty expensive right? Also will it be depressing empty? I know its the off season but I kinda like playing craps with a bunch of rowdy people.

We do plan on going downtown this time around to check it out, I havent been there. Would it be advised to just hop in the cab from our hotel? (The Mirage) to downtown? I already got a tip on a nice bar called The Griffin.

The best way to limit your gambling is to only bring cash and your ID to the casino, and set a daily limit to how much you can lose. Leave the credit/debit cards back in the room. Shows will run $60 to $150 a ticket, depending on the show. It's definitely not the tourist season, but it's never empty.

Downtown rules. The Griffin is slightly outside of the main downtown area (Fremont Street Experience). But if you're going over to that area, you may as well go across the street from the Griffin to Insert Coin(s).

Thanks for the info, I know it was sorta touched on in this thread. But is there anything that is a must see while on the strip? We plan on walking around, but dont know what casinos are a "can't miss".
