Upcoming trip is based out of the downtown area, so I was randomly clicking around different stuff on Google Maps and found the Girls of Glitter Gulch strip club: http://g.co/maps/qm79y Check out the owner chasing after every negative comment.

JustinMorgan posted:Okay, so I'm doing my room reservationa and paying for it ahead of time. (I got a standard "deluxe" room) When I get there, what's the proper way to ask for a nicer room? Give the person at the desk a $20 and hope for the best? I sound like such a loser but I've never planned a trip like this on my own, I've always gone with groups where everything was already arranged. On the one hand, how much time will I actually be spending in my room? On the other hand, I'd like to stay in a nice room, in a nice hotel. I don't get to go on many amazing vacations and I'd like to make it count. Now the pool . . .

I would think any on the strip would be fine. Here is an article about downtown ones. http://www.vegaschatter.com/story/2013/8/8/133337/4440/vegas-travel/Checking+Out+Downtown+Vegas%27+Sportsbooks Protip: Never talk on your phone in a sports book. I once made the mistake of using a quiet one to make a call. Oops.

Yeah I wouldn't stay at the Hard Rock in November if I was interested in non-Hard Rock things, especially in November (pool action). I would do something cheap mid-strip like Harrahs and use it as a base for all that other stuff you want to do.

Doctor Malaver posted:Thanks for the suggestions. Learning craps and/or Pai Gow would've been great but there just wasn't enough time. My two days in Vegas have taught me that you either need a lot of money (from my Eastern European perspective anyway) or you need to plan and prepare very well ahead. We failed on both counts and didn't enjoy the city really. And to the money thing, you really don't. You can gamble at a rate of maximum loosing $20/hour at video poker if you don't go as fast as you can. You can go on a bad run on Pai Gow but it's hard. You could sit at a 1/2 poker table and just put in the blinds when they come around, never play anything but AA and it would probably be $20/hour. If you are nervous about sitting down at any table you don't know the rules too, start at 10am when there is no one there and the dealer can have time to explain, most of them are glad. You don't want to be slowing down action Friday night at 11p. And if you really didn't want to gamble you could go to Freemont, buy cheap rear end beer from those gift stores and walk around and look at people. Yes, Vegas is more fun if you have a bunch of money to burn, but you can get by on a couple hundred / day. fake edit: pro tip. If you are a really cheap bastard you can buy beer from CVS and leave it on ice in your room or liquor from the liquor store. Backpack or pit stop as you wish. real edit: pro tip #2 Is this tanning oil or rum? Bruce Hussein Daddy fucked around with this message at 20:37 on Mar 5, 2014 |
