Thanks for the thread 28! great write-up!. Like the poster before me here are just some decent tunes to get going and a bit of a look back at general tunes form some specific labels. With zomby releasing new material here is some of his old tracks that ive liked *Digital Fauna - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nunqq5FIHLk *Need Your Lovin' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Nw_a1Y5ic&feature=related The Bug is probably one of my favourites and some of his biggest tracks have been done with flowdan. *Skeng - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwmUOJR-GwA *Run - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnUFTe2DfU0 These days i have big love for Night Slugs at the moment and the sound they are putting out. Ran by L-Vis 1990 and Bok-bok. *Jam city - 2Hot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1yAEtm-X1U *Girl unit - Showstoppa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFiG0nNoaTs *L- vis 1990 - Compass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktE9LJN_5cU *Jam city - Barely a Track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gRlBdhWsFk&feature=related I've liked Instra:mental and Dbridge for a time now and they have a wealth of great free mixes at their Autonomic *Instra:mental - From The Start http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3BlDvf1CWs *Dbrdige - Rendezvous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8b50weVo34 *Riya - Seems like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVZH6B8Je-Y *Instramental - Delta Zone (advance) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jttPunNogKw As far as the funkier side of bass music goes (i mean as in to hear them, im poo poo with genres) ive always liked these ones: *N-Type -Early Door Jaw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrUcvoxw7sQ Nothing new but Thats kinda just a bit of a brief overview of some stuff. What do you mean "is its own genre" it is isnt it? everyone round here at least just calls it brostep and its pretty easy to identify the differences between say skrillex and someone who is producing something completely different (say uk funky or grime)

Someone said a couple of pages back how all the music here should be at least decent because posting mediocre-bad music is pretty boring and redundant unless its extraordinarily bad like the korn-skrillex stuff which was legit funny to see. 99% of "lol at these wobbles" type tracks can be posted in the brostep thread in EW anyway. so what is the point?

Well bestival just put on a weekend with an insane amount of bass music on. The lineup highlights for me included loefah, Hyperdub soundsystem (with kode9, funkystepz, LV, King midas sound and joker), rinse soundsystem (with zinc, P-money+brackles, Skream + benga) Nightslugs had bok bok, jam city and lvis playing, jackmaster, pearson sound, braiden, julio Bashmore, SBTRKT, breakage with youngman, Rustie, Congo Natty, etc.. cant remember them all. Some i saw were full sets, some clashed and i only seen a bit of all-in-all fantastic weekend and highly recommended, just a real pity i couldnt see everyone, missed Deadboy and the guys from apple-pips playing like appleblim and october, Soul Jazz soundsystem, mary anne hobbs, roska + Jamie George, artwork, Doorly + many more. It'll be pretty loving hard to top that lineup outside of london, would definitely recommend again. Does anyone know if i just got lucky? or is the lineup every year that full of dubstep and bass? Either way there was just so loving much on, im kicking myself over missing some stuff. edit: and if it counts here LFO were a lot of fun too. No idea if this will make the final cut or not, but just for you guys we have the Horsepower mix of Blazin' Squads Standard Flow. Hope you don't mind I've just put up the dub mix only. You loving legend! i have an unhealthy obsession with all things blazin squad to be honest ahahaha it was a bit weird to find out HP did a mix for them. Cheers

Was listening to modeselektors "50 weapons of choice" comp's and discovered some quality tracks by Benjamin damage & Doc Daneeka. They are probably super old by now (by uk bass standards) but i was impressed anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wegecg07GC0 On monkeytown records, that track has a real techno-y vibe to it, their other track "creeper" is good too.

To find a balance that was still true to both of us and actually worked. ‘Cause it could have been bad. Really, really bad. That said i guess he worked with the right people for the people who are going to actually buy korns dubstep album. old already by uk-bass standards but i finally got around to listening to RINSE:17 Elijah & Skilliam, this is basically their victory lap for an outstanding year of Butterz. Great comp one of the most enjoyable rinse comp's as well (though they are nearly all decent)

I had a mate who went to the Rinse boxing day event at fabric with the loving ludicrous lineup , needless to say i was extremely jealous. Rinse is doing a tour of the UK in feb with Zinc, p Money etc etc so that should be fun in the new year.

DreddyMatt posted:Awful lot of mid-range dubstep hate in this thread. Especially loved 28bgg's vitriolic anti-skrillex post. I don't really understand what you means about bringing "the wrong crowd" who "don't bring anything positive to the table" When this thread did discuss mid-range dubstep in the past, when people came out and said "lol this is loving terrible" people started to go on about people being pretentious about bass music and it caused a lot of needless drama when people were simply posting their opinion. This all petered out when all the mid-range stuff started to be discussed less. This thread has been much more enjoyable since.

But people are more open to electronic except why do they insist on trying to make their own names for existing poo poo. Like 'complextro' and in a different way trap, like people desperate to have their THING. I assumed the names thing like "edm" originated from people who wanted to talk about it but had no idea of the origin or basic information about it because it was so foreign to them to hear something like that get big and different in the US.
