I loved their lecture and I would've probably been leaping out of my chair and broking out like a moron. Don't care how many Red bull cool points it would cost me! It was a very informative lecture/set.

Symptomless Coma posted:So even if Paradinas can get the music to come over, he need to bring the scene too. This means dancers. I'd love it to happen, but that's a big leap to take. I dunno, I've seen a few youtubes of kids in europe having their own little footwork battles in dance studios. Even when chrissy murderbot played out here in New orleans, some of the cities best b-boy and bounce dancers came out, and it wasn't TOO far off from what it "should be" in my mind (though I'm not from chicago). It wasn't a battle but those dudes were def. attempting to footwork, and that's good enough for me.

Also there were a few people in the audience, like me, who if they attempted to footwork would just trip all over themselves so I just raved like normal and it worked out just fine I wish there were MORE people on the dancefloor, but the chrissy murderbot show wasn't that well promoted...

Yeah but you also don't see a bunch of dudes deriding tear-out Jungle tunes as being "like IDM" and "chin-stroking" like you do with Juke for some reason, even though I think Juke is wayyyyy easier for the "average Joe" to dance to and actually appreciate.

GET MONEY posted:UK bass thread can you recommend some high-end (not too high-end) headphones for all these awesome low-end sounds? I'm considering the Seinnheiser HD280PRO as used by professional dj. I have these headphones and I enjoy them a lot. However keep in mind you won't get exaggerated low-end on these like you might on some other headphones. The low-end is flat but clear. I like using these for production when I don't want to disturb my girlfriend by playing unfinished tunes over my studio monitors a million times in a row.

TWSS posted:Are these physical dubplates or are you just calling them dubplates because the tunes are being shared exclusively? Just digital tunes in my case, however I do know of someone in Tennessee that presses actual dubplates for a really reasonable price(I wish he didn't move away from Louisana though). It's def. very do-able but it's kinda hard to justify spending the same amount of money that you would get playing a successful gig on just a single pressing of a single tune. If I played out on vinyl more often I would be more inclined to get my/my friends stuff properly pressed. However, the scene seems to be moving extremely quickly(or maybe that's just my perception of it) and who knows how much "shelf life" I will really get out of a tune before I "retire" it. Also I hear people refer to unreleased digital tunes as "dubs" all the time, correct or not.

(NOTE TO MAGURO: This is not me bitching about your methods. You're just the only person I subscribe to that does that, is all.) I do it for the reason that Dopo stated, when I uploaded in mp3 I would get tons of transcoding errors that made the tunes sound like trash. I was thinking about adding an mp3 link in the comment section but I never really got around to it. I guess I will start doing it from now on though, my friends in Estonia were complaining that it takes forever for them to download a tune haha.

Speaking as someone from the states, I just can't wait until this skrillex poo poo loving dies and all the decent DJs in my town stop trying to pander to the crowd he attracts. I've heard some down right awful tunes being dropped by people who will admit that they know better. Hell, the biggest promoter/DJ in my city was recently lamenting on FB that he's totally sick of dubstep in general and wishes he could go back to playing Tech House. This is the attitude that I find most depressing, playing out tunes that you don't even loving enjoy just so you can get a crowd of morons moving for an hour. Why not just leave those sets to the 100000 random DJs that popped up overnight once the mid range stuff got big? If you are not enjoying it anymore then whats the loving point.

28 Gun Bad Boy posted:Incredible. Thanks a lot man. Yeah Lejal Genes and Lejal Globe have had dozens upon dozens of releases. I think the label head started Lejal Genes about 15 years ago. They have released everything from deep house, to hip hop, to 2-step, dubstep, juke, etc. They help organize a lot of the larger parties in Tallin. And Estonia is a great country. It has its problems like any other but the EDM scene there is loving fantastic and being a tourist in Estonia is very cheap. I hope to go back sometime soon.
