I dont really like Attrition, if i want something related with Duke3D, WGRealms 2 is awesome enough.

Just tried Ultimate Super Doom 3 (the name is poo poo tbh) and is super fun, porting doom 3 weapons/monsters with new levels or just playing doom/doom2 maps is a blast, its really a well done mod.

Got a problem with 2011 soundtrack and Brutal Doom (using GZDoom here) and doom2.wad. Seems to work perfectly if i drag brutalgzdoomv010.pk3 and D2011MUS.wad to gzdoom.exe and then select ultimate doom. But if i select doom 2 instead, it'll use doom2 music (and brutal doom main menu theme).

I've tried to make a .bat file and load D2011MUS.wad before brutal doom in the line like this:
code:
gzdoom.exe -file D2011MUS.wad brutalgzdoomv010.pk3
This is the music wad im using: http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=28330 but seems that is built for Risen3D. Wich music mod is ppl using with brutal doom for gzdoom/skulltag?

Regarding balance on Brutal Doom shotgun vs SSG, they're both balanced and the normal shotgun got actuallybuffed in Brutal Doom. How?

In Doom (or doom2 where i took this fast pic for test) the shotgun fired 7 pellets per shot in an horizontal spread (not even a cone spread). The super shotgun fired 10 pellets per barrel, making it 20 in a cone spread. Meaning that the shotgun got vastly outdated compared to the SSG:

(normal shotgun left and SSG spread right)

In Brutal Doom the shotgun got reload just because it would just be better than the SSG in anything but point-blank range. The SSG keeps its 10 pellets per shell/barrel and the shotgun goes from 7 to 10. You may say that the SSG has the single-shot mode and would still be better. Well no, the spread of the shotgun is really tighter making it a better weapon past just a few meters, even able to score nice headshots (just to remind that in brutal doom you should aim for the head) at further distance without wasting pellets/ammo:

You can guess wich spread belongs to wich weapon.

The shotgun is not only way better in Brutal doom, but is even viable and nice at distances you wouldnt expect with the headshot damage feature.

Im playing a bit of Real Guns Hardcore and is a total surprise, tons of guns, more enemies (some of them modified to be way faster/stronger) and guns arent that bad looking in doom engine. Definately a different alternative to brutal doom.

Check your keybindings in GZDoom or Skulltag, there's a few specially related to Brutal Doom with that name over the keys (scroll way down in the keybinding list), usually puts Q as default for kick, R for reload and F for gently caress YOURSELF animation.

Brutal Doom 0.11 is even better than previous versions just with little changes, the minigun's alt fire now makes sense, if you have over 100 health and armor, you can be a loving sentry gun with exelent accuracy. It's an action game without all the fluff bullshit that games like Call of Duty are filled with to the brim.

The game itself is short, its solid and i liked the demo but this is the EARLY FPS Megathread, that game has:

-Regenerating shield.
-Slow player movement (in painkiller your could bunnyhop to get insane speed).

The Assault rifle is your sniper weapon, just tap fire fast, dont need much recoil management. The new chaingun is awesome, original one is just a speed-up pistol wich was kinda boring, while this one is jaw-dropping. I find myself using mostly the pump action shotgun, brutal doom balanced it nicely that is a headshot machine for every small-medium enemy, while i just pop the SS for really tight corridors. You can kill just fine imps and zombies with the pump shotgun at like 150 feet or even more now.

Or if there is water, like 10 inches deep of it, it negates all fall damage, seems to be a common engine issue as still happens in Counter Strike 1.6 (See de_Aztec).

Or some games with Quake 3 engine where you can jump from insanely high but if you land in some shape that isnt completely horizontal, you take no damage at all (RTCW and Enemy Territory at least).

Just tried Brutal Doom 0.12 and im not liking it, its better for laptops/netbooks sure, but i miss the menu music, slash screen and the original "gently caress YOURSELF" voice over this Darth Vader one. I dont really care about kicking limbs around as the "feeling" of the mod got tuned down with less blood. At the other hand i like that there is less smoke effects but meh.

I think ill stick with 0.11 for now and see if he makes another 0.12 with more blood or something :(

While there's a bit less blood and smoke in Brutal Doom now, the gibs are a lot clearer and a lot chunkier, too. Enemies seem to have more defined death animations, too - smack a pinky demon at point-blank with the SSG and its entire upper half explodes, and leaves a huge red splat on the opposite wall.

Edit: For the lazy, I uploaded a tweaked Brutal Doom (GZDoom variant) with autofiring shotgun and SSG reenabled. I was considering doing a variant with a full-auto rifle that reloads every 15-20 shots, too, but I thought that might be a little overpowered.

Is too hard to find the old splash screen and menu music (I know its Metallica) and build it up into v0.12 version? I want to adapt to 0.12 as i like the lowered smoke effects but dont want to give up these 2 things (and the old voice).

Just open both files and if you check it, v11 (at least the one i got from skulltag/zdoom forums doesnt have .OGG files, while v12 does. v11 has a Taunt file (no extension and not able to play it through VLC or winamp) and a gently caress file with the same properies. v12 has a gently caress.OGG but Taunt is extensionless wich makes me think that he basically revamped/changed the mod a lot more than the changelog says.

I get your point, and i agree with it. Im not saying Doom 3 is awesome. It was a decent FPS but definitely not what we wanted, wich was a visually upgraded and modernized doom1/2: lots of enemies, fast gunplay, and giving you more the feeling of being a bad rear end instead of the survival horror direction.

I have mixed feelings towards Doom 4 because of Carmack's words about it being a "cinematic" experience but also saying that putting a lower fps cap allows to put lots of monsters in the map. I enjoyed RAGE a lot wich was basically their tech demo for the new engine (cept the ending wich was bland). Guns will make enemies stumble while they run, make them missfire to their mates, or gunshots making armor parts fly leaving the body exposed. The whole ammo system (also carrying 9 weapons plus fists) helped to add variety.

Is kinda weird to say this but John Romero did a great job with Doom map design, a thing Id never got right after he left.
