Given your avatar, crazypeltast, I was wondering what your reaction was going to be when you got to the 40K stuff Rather than you reposting each individual segment, I have the collected version I can upload in .doc format. Is there a preferred file-upload site these days?

Also, going between threads I sometimes lose track of who is posting in the present vs. the past, hopefully you guys don't mind me reposting your posts? Thanks, glad you like it! I had great fun writing it, and always enjoy hearing what people thought. And as for being too big to fit in a post...there's more. A lot more. I'm fine with you reposting it, but if other people get annoyed I'll be happy to upload the document version somewhere (which also has the pieces rearranged into chronological order, as opposed to the scattered mix that I wrote them in).

The show may have denied the San/San fans, but all is forgiven, for it also opened the door to the new and unprecedented idea of Arya/Tywin

We require your medical expertise on the pressing subject of whether or not paraplegic ten-year-olds can have erections. No. (I seem to recall a scene from Dance that describes Bran making GBS threads down Hodor's back, or at least the aftermath of same, so I don't think he has any control at that level. Also, Contra, your formula is incorrect, because the force required to cause a fracture in a vertebral body is not the same as the force of breaking a piece of idealized bone. Idealized bone. I think that's what Daaaaario~~ has, in Dany's mind)

Here's the completed file, crazypeltast reposted some of it earlier in the thread as part of his exploration of the old Bad Threads, but there was more that he didn't post. It was kind of shameful to write, but it was also a lot of fun, and hearing peoples' responses to it was always interesting.

I'll kick in a contribution. Everything I've written in the past is focused on warfare of various forms, which doesn't seem relevant to this story, but if there's a duel I could write that. I could also do a little political intrigue to fill in the areas between the porn.

Gygaxian posted:Finally finished A Dance With Dragons. That was the worst slog of a book I've ever managed to finish. I liked the chapters with Jon Connington and Aegon near the end, and chapters featuring Stannis are always great, but otherwise, it's so awful. Especially the Danerys chapters. I thought you guys were kidding with the "brown water" thing. My opinion is that the worst part of the book by far is Bran learning to fly. The end of Dany's plotline is terrible, but the fact that Bran's five-book quest to learn to fly is fulfilled by hearing the phrase "Just warg into a raven, it's easy" (and it is, he doesn't even get a proper training montage, he goes from nothing to full flight in the span of a paragraph) is far worse. It's something he could have done long prior to that, if he'd only thought of it. It's not a unique or unheard-of talent, either, since Orell is a bit-part character and could do it, and so could Varamyr. So, his flight, the completion of all his dreams and prophesies, turns out to be nothing special. In a book full of let-downs, that is the greatest. whowhatwhere posted:Kylaer is clearly beat and we should take his continued silence as shame for having failed in his attempt to write the most idiotic thing involving ASOIAF. Mr. Bad Guy posted:I was so disappointed when the Pykemen didn't become Khornite 'zerkers. Here you go. As for Khorne, I actually had the idea for the Ironborn religion to be a remnant of the Imperial Cult, with the Drowned God being based on the Emperor (dead but never dying), but I couldn't figure out how to work it in. I am really happy that people enjoyed the story, seriously. Part of me pities the GRRM, who has a series that is loved by so many, yet he can't find sufficient joy in their admiration to motivate him to write more. To think of losing that sense of "Someone likes what I wrote " is really quite sad.

kaworu posted:Yeah, Bran is learning how to warg into weirwoods, which is really freaking cool and exactly what greenseers were always purported to do. Even more to the point, ever since Tolkien and the ents, trees and their like have basically been considered extremely wise and ancient and powerful. I always loved the concept of the weirwood and the tree itself as a place/object of worship, with the eerie faces carved into them and the eyes weeping sap. Utterly fantastic imagery. If the "Bran learns to fly" scene hadn't been literally the most disappointing passage in the entirety of the series, you might have a point here, but considering the pathetically lazy way in which that was written, you're being far too optimistic. Your imagination of how good it's going to be doesn't square with how bad it already is. Hunky Joe posted:I agree with this fully. Sansa put up with a lot and at least you were waiting for her to stick a knife into someone. It never happened though because Sansa knew it was pointless because it would lead to her death and the delight of Cersei. And beside she is in the books all of 15 or 16? This is GRRM we're talking about. She was 11 or 12.

^^^ It's really easy, you just buy a custom title and use BBCode img tags to point to the image. The only caveat is that you can only do this using images that are hosted on SA itself, you can't link to outside images, so someone official has to upload the tag to get things started. But once it's there, anyone can use it. SaviourX posted:
