Haha, I thought it did okay to provide context, but now that's all I see. Always good to get another perspective... And yes, this was a lot of fun to shoot. Plenty of opportunities to get close to the action, too. As penance for the skinny jeans, here's a cool guy:

Like in that one shot you posted if you pretend the people at the bottom are cropped out, it looks better because you got that huge line of people on the background hill spectating. It doesn't save the shot and you can't make out any expressions, but it feels a little better to me. True. I just liked the idea of it, you know? And didn't want to trash it, I suppose. Should've planned it better at the time, but I was actually just passing by that spot and didn't stick around to photograph it properly, just long enough to snap a couple of photos. But yeah, there's no saving it now in post, even with extreme crops.
