Yeah, that fight is a bitch. My Inventor fared pretty well, but IIRC I'd put that quest off for ages, so by the time I reached him I had Attack Toys, and was able to hide behind stuff and heal up while he attacked my pets. Popping a force field and/or HOT Bots helped too, as did the Sidekick I had from getting the game pretty much as soon as it hit Steam.
