It doesn't offer anything strictly new, but it has advantages over those two methods. For instance, you can't search for an application if you can't remember the name (or misremember the spelling). The Finder interface is a little unintuitive and hard-to-find for new users. And you can reach the launchpad with a single multi-touch gesture.

It's not really designed for power users but it's a helpful crutch if you're new to Mac.

Yeah, that works fine when you're manipulating the data directly. (e.g. Via touchscreen.) With an intermediary device like a mouse or a trackpad, it makes less sense.

See: every mouse scroll wheel ever. It's the exact same finger motion, and reversing it would make no sense at all.
Yet they did reverse it. And it's not really that big of a deal at all...

So if I missed the option to ERASE AND INSTALL then is my only option to do an ERASE AND INSTALL of Snow Leopard, and then download Lion again and do it all over again?

Downloadable content isn't all it's cracked up to be. :(

Any way to make dropbox have a stylized folder icon on the finder sidebar like before? Is this just something that Dropbox is going to have to implement in an update?

So what's everyone's new preferred gesture (magic mouse) for "Next Track"? I had it set to two-finger swipe right and got pretty used to that with SL, but with the same gesture being used for desktop paging in Lion, I'm toying around with Better Touch Tool and haven't been able to come up with anything. Is there a way to request new gestures or add your own or something? I used two-finger swipe up for Expose before, so I've remapped Mission Control to that because I'm used to it, but it would be nice to remap the current Mission Control gesture (two finger tap) to next track, but it seems BTT doesn't have that available as a gesture currently.

Anyone know why my screensaver or powersaver options won't invoke while Transmission is running? I know it counts as a running process and won't allow the computer to sleep, but I'd at least like the display to shut off.

Never happened in SL.

Is anyone surprised about how much like enjoy fullscreen implementation on Lion? I've always been a big proponent of carefully organized windows on one display, but I really like being able to three finger swipe between different apps/desktops.

Now we just have to wait until all apps implement a full screen function.
While I love the concept, I guess it also really depends on your real estate too. On a 27" iMac, there's really not many apps that make sense taking up a full 2560x1440 space. I've been doing it with iTunes just to feel like I'm using it (and having it on grid view looks pretty), but Sparrow/Safari/Etc. all just seem ridiculously overwhelming at that res.

Grabbing scrollbars with the cursor isn't that hard even if they're set to hide automatically. Moving the cursor immediately after scrolling makes the scroll bars persist longer.
Moving the cursor at any time when they're visible makes them stay visible, and once you over in the scrollbar area they'll stay there until you move away.

Is there any way to disable the "feature" of mouse acceleration when you quickly move your mouse over a small distance it automatically jumps all the way to the edge of the screen? I'm fairly certain that I've got my acceleration levels the same as they were on SL, but I'm noticing a ton of problems with this now on Lion. It seem like any time I even touch the mouse after leaving it sit for a while that I'm jumped all the way the the edge of the screen (which is annoying on 27"). Is this new? Do I just have my acceleration set too high but can't tell? Am I insane?

Yeah, I thought about that immediately after I posted it. By default it just used to show all open windows in one huge grid. I could have sworn there was a way to show open windows grouped by application in the old Expose (separate from the 'application expose' feature) but perhaps I was just dreaming.

They changed it mid SL actually. With the prevalence of trackpads these days it's not really that uncommon to accidentally drag something off the sidebar (or anywhere really), hear that familiar *poof*, and then freak out because you don't even know what you dragged off of there in the first place.

Hmm, yeah I experience the jumping back and forth, although I have no idea what causes it. I think it's just trying to keep the list contained within the finder window. Hence the fading out (and moving up).

However, it doesn't actually change the position of the cursor at all so it shouldn't really be affecting your movement abilities.
