Old Money is the most TMV of the Omar albums because it was a TMV album before they scrapped it for Bedlam. Some of the tracks have subtle background vocals, and I wonder if the rest of the vocals were recorded as well but never mixed or released? It sounds like it is a finished album besides lyrics. Did they never complete it, or would the complete album be considered Warner Brothers Records property so Omar could only release the instrumentals?

I think Old money would have been a killer album, it is killer, but it could be even more homicidal with lyrics. Does such a record exist, and where can I get one?

I got sick of looking the lyrics of TMV songs up online or finding my CD booklets, so I decided to collect all the lyrics and make a book on Lulu. The collection covers everything from Tremulant to Octahedron, including "Frances the Mute", and my best idea of English translations of the Spanish parts. I just got it in the mail today and it looks really good. It was originally supposed to be just for my personal reference because I can't sell their copyrighted material as my own, but I can still sell it to you goons. All of the interior pages are black and white, despite color in the preview. It's only $7.08 plus shipping.

Get it here: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/the-mars-volta-lyrics/18165350

I plan to update it when LP6 is released (whenever that is...).

It's a reference to the cult suicide at Jonestown.

I also remember someone dug up a recording of someone singing the song/hymn in question, but I can't find it at the moment.
Maybe it was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqVk3ne4GRc#t=4m30s

I found the song. I'm sorry, it's on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/peoplestemplechoir/music/songs/i-ain-t-never-heard-a-man-20769445

As for Noctouriquet, I still haven't formed an opinion.

I've been watching these Q&A's with Cedric they've been putting out on Youtube. He said that the name Noctourniquet came from a story he's writing. Does anyone think he'll ever publish/release any of these stories like how Jim Morrison published "The Lords and the New Creatures"? I'd love to read his non Volta stuff.

In regards to the Octopus Kool Aid album,

Webbeh posted:

Despite the name, this album is a lot more accessible than his last two releases. Although it sounds a lot like Tychozorente, just with a different female lead and a lot darker.

I feel that his albums are getting more "accessible" which to me translates to boring. I know he'd going a new direction and exploring, but it seems like his exploration is limited to mid-tempo synthesizer tracks. I miss the insanity of his old stuff, and most of all, I want him to play guitar again.
