Skinny Gene was hosed up Gene, so I think him looking old and fat is actually a positive sign for him. I'm just glad it looks like the boys are having fun, even if we'll never get any more Ween albums.

I just learned about the where’d the cheese go/where the motherfuckin cheese go at jingle today and it really made my week. Now I have the theory that there were never five other rejected songs, it’s just a prank by the band. I don’t do ween message boards or anything so I don’t know if this is an existing theory or if it’s been settled but I will cling to this until proven otherwise

I wanted to drop by and say thanks Ween thread. I had been aware of their existence, but had never listened to any of their stuff. Holy gently caress, Quebec is a crazy great album, from start to finish. Pretty much the same with 12 Golden Country Hits.
Unfortunately, while going through the rest of their catalog, I am not finding much else that trips my trigger, but I am not 100% finished going through it all.
It's better to be late to the party than to miss it altogether, and it's sweet to find gems like these. OK gonna go back and sail brown bay some more...

It never stops.

If you’re finding the earlier material a little too impenetrable (The Pod can be a rough listen for some), definitely check out the live versions. The songwriting comes through a lot more without the grime and muck of the production style.

I would say that Quebec, White Pepper, Chocolate and Cheese, and the Country album are probably the most accessible for new people.

Yeah. Seeing them live can definitely change your mind on some songs. Fluffy was never my favorite song. It was funny but I never thought much of it until seeing a face melting 10 minute live version of it.

It's always been kinda funny to me that a sizable chunk of the Ween fanbase was introduced to the band through one of three different animated shows. I first heard of them via Beavis and Butt-Head, and I know people that their first taste was either South Park or Spongebob.

Agreed! But you rarely come across anyone who found ween via the “It’s Pat” movie.

Anyone catch the boys in Boston this weekend? I was at Night 2 (last night) and it was my first Ween show. Had an amazing time. The setlist was basically what I would've picked for them to play (Tender Situation, Don't poo poo Where You Eat, Voodoo Lady, Big Jilm) but the standout for me was far and away Help Me Scrape the Mucus off My Brain. I love that song and didn't expect to hear it. Would've loved to get Exactly Where I'm At, but just gives me an excuse to see them again. Boys looked like they were having a lot of fun.

I am really enjoying White Pepper. Also Chocolate and Cheese, although Spinal Meningitis kinda bums me out. Also also, FREE.MAN is pretty darn good.
Also, after listening to a lot of Ween, youtube is suggesting The Melvins, and I am really liking most of that.
I feel like such an idiot missing out on this great music for years and years.
Did anybody else catch The Morning Show (the Apple+ show, S1E7) using If You Could Save Yourself in their production?

I've been looking for a video but can't find it. It's a performance of Buckingham green, I think from the early 00's or late 90s, with an extended solo where deener plays a bit of what would eventually become the argus in it. Anyone know that vid? It might have been posted in this thread but I've been looking for ages and can't find it again.

Ed: oh and I think it's on a tv show or something, I don't think it was concert footage but I could be wrong

I need PNW shows in the summer. The last one in Bend, Oregon (huge storm followed by a double rainbow at that one, too) was my favorite out of the 14 I've seen.

I didn't know who the artist was, thanks :)

They played the Mighty Midwest Triumvirate this weekend: Minneapolis on Friday, Chicago on Saturday, Madison tonight.

I went to their site for that Madison poster and was momentarily delighted to see it was only $25. Then I saw it was 7x9". Mfers are high to think I'm paying that for a loving handbill-size print.
