the My Dead Girlfriend track reminds me a bit of Clams, similar Japanese female vocals and the overall sound isn't too distant

I love that song. I'd say it's pretty shoegazey, as is some of the rest of that album, though it could as easily be described as noise rock/pop probably.

Ordinaire posted:So the new My Bloody Valentine just dropped, in case anyone hasn't noticed. Honestly can't believe it, but it seems like Kevin Shields wasn't just bullshitting this whole time. It's giving me 403 Forbidden right now, I assume the traffic is too heavy. While I wait I'll post this track I heard today, I think it's brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrzCQ0rHb4s

Yeah I've been really enjoying that album over the last week or so, it feels quite consistently good the whole way through and is quite varied

von Braun posted:They are a great band. The shoegaze scene in Japan is actually highly recommended to check out, there is some good stuff. 'Total Feedback' is a compilation I have listened to a lot. Yeah I really like this, particularly the My Dead Girlfriend track. I've also enjoyed Hartfield and Broken Little Sister, both of which aren't on the compilation but are good Japanese bands

AARO posted:Would you guys call Radiohead Dream Pop? Not really, but they definitely incorporate some dream pop elements in some of their stuff. Radiohead's sound has been all over the place though, to the extent that I would only ever call them alternative or art rock or something - things which are a lot less specific than dream pop, in my mind
