They came through NE and the Mid-Atlantic a few months ago, in September I think.

There was a clear resurgence in the 2010's. I have a few albums from the naughties that fit the bill (Airiel, Stella Luna, The Meeting Places), but pretty much no one was doing shoegaze then. e: also Depreciation Guild, Film School, and Fleeting Joys. I guess it was being done, per se, but probably didn't have many listeners. Ofecks fucked around with this message at 18:37 on Dec 10, 2023 |

appropriatemetaphor posted:some japanese shoegaze where she smashes an old television set This rules. Love the sound. But as a retrogaming enthusiast, I hope those CRTs were irreparable before they smashed them. Unfortunately, the album it's from isn't on Bandcamp so if I wanted to buy it I'd have to import it from Japan.

Major Operation posted:Someone with a PhD in mbv will have to give a diagnosis if this can be called shoegaze, or if its just a bit too dream pop. There's a lot of overlap between the two, in general. Hence why this thread combines them. I don't have a PhD in mbv but I'd say it's more Dream Pop. But honestly, what matters more is how much you like it. For what it's worth, I watched all 4 of the music videos they have and they've got a cool thing going. I especially liked Pistachio Boy and Fall. Thanks for the recommendation. Ofecks fucked around with this message at 19:25 on Feb 3, 2024 |

Beavis & Butt-head would greatly approve of that video. I also like the stark contrast between tranquil nature and wanton human destruction. The song is kinda whatever, though, lol. Not really my thing.

I saw that they're playing DC with Airiel in June. Two of my favorite shoegaze bands in the same show. I need to find a way to attend. e: also happy 10th(!?!) birthday to Nothing's Guilty of Everything. Ofecks fucked around with this message at 17:13 on Mar 4, 2024 |

What do you all use for earplugs when you go to shows? I hate the disposable foam ones, so I'm thinking of buying some of the fancier silicones meant for concert-goers. I bought my ticket for the Blushing / Airiel DC show in June, and I know that, historically, Airiel was known for being extremely loud. No idea about Blushing.

Definitely a cool piece of history.

New All Under Heaven coming July 7th. They're calling it a debut LP but it's only 8 tracks. I'll consider it a mini-album. Anyway, song slaps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuKR4cFVsJs
