You guys might really enjoy my band, Golden Gardens:

We're pretty dreampop, but we add in other elements like old goth rock, trip hop, and in some rare cases lounge and post-rock. We're pretty influenced by Angelo Badalamenti soundtracks as well.

Ok, I'm into more "normal" shoegaze, although in an oddly limited way, but I'm looking for stuff there may not be a whole lot of. Basically those two Alcest albums where he threw in a bunch of metal and did growls and it was still somehow shoegaze? (Écailles de Lune, Les Voyages de L'Âme)

Is there more stuff like that out there somewhere?

e: gently caress, I killed the thread :smith:

Along with the other blackgaze suggestions you may want to try Heretoir, Liam and maybe An Autumn for Crippled Children.

More traditionally shoegaze but still extremely dark is the band The Cheshire Strangler, check them out.

Not really shoegazey but a metal band that plays with atmosphere and romantic themes and has the good cop, bad cop vocals is Novembre. Check out the albums Dreams D'azur and Novembrine Waltz.

You may also want to check out Klimt 1918, who started off with a sound that could kinda be described as a metal band who are really into U2 and the Police and have gotten progressively more indie and shoegazey as they've gone on. The guitars are pretty reminiscent of British Sea Power.

What would be good bands to check out if I like more electronic-oriented shoegazey stuff a la early M83?

Man Without Country may be something you would want to check out.
