I'm bad at music genres. Does this belong?

I like their stuff quite a lot. iTunes of all places recommended one of this band's songs after I bought something from Film School that I heard on Pandora.
Yeah Airiel definitely belongs, they're maybe my favorite shoegaze band. I absolutely love their LP The Battle For Sealand, and they have an EP out this year called Kid Games, and Flashlight Tag is a real standout track:

Is there a thread for current psychedelic music? I couldn't find one but didn't want to start one before checking...
It's different enough that I think it's reasonable to start a new one, go ahead.

I saw Nothing, a Philly shoegaze band, a couple weeks ago on tour with Whirr and enjoyed their stuff. I was particularly impressed with their drummer, who does a lot of interesting fills among relatively standard shoegaze drone, but they have a good sound and energy.

Good stuff, thanks for the recommendation.

Alcest have completed their metamorphosis into a shoegaze band, and their upcoming album is streaming on pitchfork.

It's really good.
On the one hand, it's not bad, but on the other all I can think is Pure Moods 2014

Came out of lurking to see if anyone had mentioned the new Woods of Desolation album and I can't find anything.

Already posted this in the PostRock/Metal/Aussie subforums but feel we should give them some love in this thread too.

I can't recommend it enough... for lovers of atmospheric black metal with amazing melodies and post-rock / shoegaze / blackgaze influences.

Streaming here:

What are you, their goddamn publicist? I hope you actually keep up with people's replies to this and this wasn't just spamming.

I stumbled onto them via seeing a Facebook friend listening to them on Spotify earlier this year, Leave has maybe the most memorable melody I've heard this year, it's gotten stuck in my head so much. Seriously every irritating stupid facebook app is worth it for that feature, I love seeing what people are listening to

has anyone seen Nothing live? They're coming to town in three weeks and I wonder if I should see them

try the first two Lantlos albums, Neige is on there doing his signature vocals

definately check out Deafheaven who are the best band in the world etc and whole metal community hates them and so forth (they rule)

Amesoeurs (Neiges old band) has a couple good songs on their album, but the direction is really all over the place

and perhaps a long shot but if you're into the more-black-metal-than-shoegaze, maybe just maybe you will like Wolves in the Throne room (but not the latest album, that's ambient)
re: Amesoeurs, the LP is okay like you say but the first EP, Ruines Humaines is a million times better and a must-listen

Tom Scharpling had Sunshine & the Rain on The Best Show this week and they performed a bunch of new material (which is nice since previously they only released two songs), I highly recommend listening. If you're not familiar, their first single is really good, available at https://sunshineandtherain.bandcamp.com/
