Later that night I was on youtube and searched for "shoegaze" just to see, clicked one of the compilations and Holy poo poo, is there a word for finding something you never knew you were looking for? It's all I've been listening to for the past two months and I've barely scratched the service. I've heard of a few of the bands that popped up (M83, MBV, Silversun) but never listened to them in depth. Really like Slowdive and Lush, Ride, Cocteau, also Fazerdaze and Beach House but there's so much stuff “Shoegaze” came about as a derisive term for bands that were said to care more about their effects pedals than the audience when playing. There was a few years (1985 to 1987ish) where I bought any 4AD record I found in the record store and it was almost always great. That’s how I found Ultra Vivid Scene Same with Touch and Go in 1986-91 and Sub Pop from 1988 - 92 or so.
