Best thing in that clip is that it contains the only moment in the entire 10 seasons of Smallville where he wears the costume.

I think they kinda dropped the ball with Lex Luthor, though. The actor was good, but the writing usually wasn't... and when he left the show it kinda got more interesting. The idea that they used to be best friends probably worked better on paper, too. His dad was a way better character.

Them being friends was actually an idea from the comics. Superman is responcible for Lex loosing his hair.

Yo, did Grant Morrison just get away with publishing a Superman comic where he basically says DC's lawyers are the devil, and that the creators of Superman got completely hosed? Did that just happen?

How the gently caress did this get published?

I was hoping for Morrison to get to the trippier stuff once the origin was re-done.

He did not disappoint.

EDIT:

I would not be surprised if DC fired Morrison over this.

Yes, it made it to the printed page - that doesn't mean that anyone at the company actually understood what it was publishing and that there won't be consequences once they figure it out. Yes, firing Morrison would be a boneheaded move, but let's not forget what comics company we're talking about. I'm not saying they WILL - but it wouldn't surprise me.

I wonder if Batman will have a monster who gets rich at the expense of another person and the richer the monster gets the poorer the worker get.

This is how I understand it as well. I also believe there's been no editorial changeover despite the reboot, so the same people that were in editorial during New Krypton/War of the Supermen/Grounded are still in charge now, which begs the question exactly what does an editor have to do to get fired at DC?

Allow a cartoon that makes fun of a former employee murdering a woman. That is what got Waid fired.

Issue 1 will instead have stories by Jeff Parker and Chris Samnee, Jeff Lemire, and Justin Jordan with Riley Rossmo.

That he was trying to help him even when he was fighting. However, it does look like it might get a little repetitive if its just Superman facing test after test.

Looks like Action Comics is going to be on my pull list.

quote:

Writer Greg Pak is turning into DC Comics go-to Man of Steel, and as of today artist Aaron Kuder will join the scribe as the regular creative team on flagship series "Action Comics."

USA Today broke the news of the team who come onto a book still reeling from the early departure of writer Andy Diggle. And Pak spoke to the paper about his work on the title as well as this week's "Batman/Superman" #1 which tells the story of the World's Finest heroes first meeting in the New 52 continuity.

"Basically, I've fallen in love with this character all over again," he explained of Superman. "In fact, the first comic book I ever drew as a kid was a Superman thing. I was doing Superman fan fiction when I was 6 years old...For young children, Superman is your first introduction to superheroes and you love him. But as I've gotten older, I realized how resonant the whole story of Superman is and how his struggles actually reverberate with people at every age."

In "Action," the writer promised the book would live up to its title, saying, "Superman's gotta do crazy, huge things. At the same time, every step of the way in order for me to care and you to care, whatever Superman is going through has to resonate on that emotional level."

Kuder, who has recently started working on the Superman titles including a Villains Month entry for the Parasite after a stint on the Green Lantern line at DC, explained his own plans for the legendary monthly. "I am a huge fan of Greg's work and, as a person, he's a super nice guy. I mean, come on, it's freaking Superman!"

Details are light at this point on the focus of the story in "Action," but the team's first issue is expected to hit in November with issue #25. For more, see USA Today, and stay tuned to CBR News for more on Pak's DC Comics work.

I didn't get to read it til today but this week's Adventures of Superman chapter might be the finest thing Tom DeFalco has written in close to a decade. The art style was gorgeous, too, and the throwback costume worked perfectly. It's so nice that while the superman titles are being dominated by mediocrity, there's at least this one shining example of how to do comics right.

I also find it hilarious that global warming deniers are equal to Superman deniers.
