Is it very different from a french press though? What's the difference in the taste, if you could describe it?

To me, a french press is more oily and an aeropress is more smooth.

I just bought a virtuoso refurb, and all is good so far! What do you guys set it at for french press/pour over/aeropress? I've been experimenting and I've got it set to 32 for french press...however I might dial it back a bit still.

Any strong opinions on reusable filters? Sometimes I feel guilty about all the disposable ones I go through.

What type/size filter?

I found that starting with 35g of ground coffee and 500g of water was a good jumping off point for my French press coffee. Then I could tweak ratios as I worked through a bag of coffee to get things just right.

I just recently switched to a drip system, which is awesome and I like better than the French press. How important is it to get one of those kettles with the long thin spout? Right now I just pour direct from the kettle while trying to keep the water as close to the coffee as possible.

I sometimes use a Pyrex measuring cup, seems like it works fine for me.

I just got a burr grinder for 40 bucks after tax! it was 70% off and the cashier took an extra 10% off since it was the display. These retail for $130 at the store or $114 on Amazon.

Fantastic price if you are in need of a grinder or a french press, vacuum pot, double walled cups, or thermos.
