This could well be a warehouse issue. I worked for a major multinational retail chain and this poo poo happened all the bloody time, especially after the warehouse's annual inventories. They'd find poo poo that had fallen behind something else and it'd go out, and we'd get a beat up flat of tinned tomatoes that were packaged in 1997 or something stupid. The only reason we noticed is because the labels were ancient looking - since we were expected to pump out between 75-100 pieces per hour while rotating and facing every shelf every night before open, "date checking" wasn't something we did a lot.
