UYD's continuing listenability can't be overstated. Episodes they recorded in 2006 are still hilarious an relevant, which makes this a great show to archive binge on. I listened to episodes 1-260 over the course of about 6 months.

I had to pull my car over the first time I heard the Straight-Talkin' segment. That sounds like hyperbole, but it's not. What episode was that? I'd like to dip back in for it. Edit: "You're saying names, but they're not quite names."

Jonathan is spotty with his text responses, but Seth always calls me back. One time he did so at 4am, and it really freaked me out.

I can't imagine that UYD is for everyone. The advice that I always hear is to start listening at around 120. Not liking something that's good doesn't make you broken, and forcing yourself to like it isn't apt to work. If it "takes," you'll definitely be ready to listen to the whole catalog.

Seth's freakout about the serial sperm donor's kids coming back to murder him was the funniest thing.

You're a terrible person for not liking the things that I like. Just kidding. I appreciate you being amiable about it and not making GBS threads up the thread. Thanks for trying to see things our way.

It's their consistency that keeps it funny. Every, drat, time one of those words comes up, they run that bit. And it keeps getting funnier.

The Complete Guide to Everything is like a more good-natured UYD. It's "two guys in a room", the chemistry is good, and there's some topic overlap. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you give them a shot.

As a sidenote, with a dash of intolerable self promotion, the podcast that I do with my brother is called Those drat Ross Kids and it's very much inspired by UYD. I only mention it because it's relevant to the conversation. duckfeed.tv/thosedamnrosskids

My favorite Seth-ism is, whenever Jonathan is on a roll and making an rear end of himself, Seth will say "Keep talking." Every time.

I know that Griffin, at least, is a UYD fan. After he dropped "respecognize" in an early episode, it tweeted at him and asked. He was most of the way through the catalog at that point. It's not a bad thing. I do several podcasts, and UYD-isms have most certainly seeped into my vocab. I also had a dream last night where I was going to a book store to buy a large illustrated novel written by one Seth Romatelli. I have no idea what the novel was about.

It's worth going through it from the beginning. I know everyone says it, and I know it seems daunting, but it all holds up. I got through it in about 6 months, and I did that while keeping current on several other podcasts. I was sad when I got through the whole thing, and I'm considering going back through at some point. Great stuff.

It was really hearing Seth's mom compliment him on being 9 years sober.

They definitely pump the brakes on the "Fruits" talk, and at one point even respond to listener criticism and say that they were out of line. When they get into Craig's House, they spend a lot of time talking about the M4M casual encounters section, but they direct most of their attention to "totally straight bros looking for JO partners, no gay poo poo".

Seth is really the best. For all of his high-pitched, outraged rants, he's a thoughtful dude. I always enjoy getting a call from him after I've left a message.

I was surprised that he so readily admitted to taking Ketamine. Ten years sober is a feat, though.

If I was smart, I'd download every UYD and burn them to a DVD. Same with stuff like You Look Nice Today. This stuff won't be online forever, and I want to always be able to listen to it. That's right, I'm a podcast hoarder.

It's got the Friendship Porn aspect to it (not my phrase, but I believe it was coined by my buddy, forums user The Capm). I like UYD because of the way Seth and Jonathan get along with each other. YLNT has the same thing going for it, but with three people instead. All of them are really entertaining on their own, but the chemistry is great and you can really tell that they love doing the show. Humor is really subjective, so I can't guarantee you'll like it. I think it's the best podcast and it's a shame that they aren't doing it anymore. UYD is about current society, while YLNT is about three individuals being embarrassed about their pasts. If you like Jonathan or Seth revealing personal stories more than screaming about TV, you'll like this. It's less irreverent and more absurd, but also much better-produced and faster paced. If you're looking for a good entry point, hit up "Sacks-Minnelli Disease" or "Truck Spank". One thing you'll find disappointing is how quickly the episodes run out. No other podcast can compete with UYD for sheer volume+quality. If the worst thing you can say about something is "Well, it ends", then it's probably worth checking out.

I'm a child of divorce, and I've never felt more horrible than when I heard them argue about adoption. I was happy to learn it was just because they were breathing poison.

They were arguing about stuff that's pretty fundamental to a person's values system. IMO it's misguided to say one is right and the other is wrong, just that you agree with one more than the other. Arguing to change someone's values is futile, especially when you can be laughing about dumb rastafarian poetry instead.

"I've only lost three things in my life. My Red Sox hat at Lollapalooza, that truck, and my umbrella at the Chinese Theater. Wait, four, I guess. My mind, when I got sober. No chance I'm getting that back. Might get the truck back, though. Maybe."

Not to be that guy, but can we add a link to the gas leak episode to the OP? It comes up every few pages, so it would be handy to have an easy point of reference.

The most offensive thing is when Seth called the pilot of Breaking Bad "whack". Edit: I'm not down with any of the epithets that they use. Those aren't cool. Still, Breaking Bad.
