I wasn't convinced when people were saying that the early episodes hold up fine, despite being over half a decade old. They're still amazingly relevant. I'm up to the ones where Seth is obsessed with To Catch A Predator. The guy is hilarious. It's really weird how little you actually know about the guy, despite listening to him talk for hours & hours. He's deliberately misinforming the listener what seems like half the time.

started at #1, working my way through. The show is damned good to listen to while working. It's crazy how the episodes hold up. Nothing feels too dated (To Catch A Predator is still on, Rick Ross is still amazing) and the chemistry is there to start with. I'm trying to keep a mental track of all Seth's afflictions. I think he definitely has OCD, but the way they're constantly making poo poo up about his past means I take all of it with a grain of salt.

Sure you can stay in the Williamsberg Bubble when you're visiting but like the first time he's packed up to his armpits in people on a train where the air conditioning has broken down and is being held for 15 minutes in the middle of a tunnel he's coming running back. Imagine Seth trying to live in NYC.

I think if their lives were really poo poo and poor they'd have to have stopped the podcast by now. Besides, their shows make reasonable money, surely? I'm surprised they haven't thrown in adverts, but it really bugs me on other podcasts when you have to listen to some 90's throwback hock a fleshlight constantly.

Seth's voice generally changes tone slightly when he's being facetious. It's kind of subtle, but he also changes phrasing and asks pseudo-rhetorical questions when he's lying - it kind of sounds like his old 'is it pedo-phile, or is it peeedo-phile' from the TCAP days. But, he doesn't do this every time and even then he's a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in an anxious, ex-alcoholic genius. Jah is cool too, and I really appreciate that he acknowledges being wrong and not always super-smart in some situations. I don't think he's dumb [at all] and doesn't really credit himself with more intelligence than he possesses.

It's really charming/concerning how she seems so used to how he makes things up as it goes along, like it's no big deal. Hopefully he isn't actually crazy with an enabling mother and she's just used to the schtick. She's a cool lady, with an amazing accent.

I suspect (or 'know') that this is a direct reference to Joe Rogan Experience. His intro is 'meow noise', 'are we on?', 'hit it', 'quote', 'guitar riff', 'fade out', 'whats up you fuckers/dirty bitches/loving savages'. It's 100% sincere as well.

Seth makes up a lot of stuff, so it's hard to say, but typically the longer stories seem more likely to be true. I choose to believe.

Yeah I don't think Jah is at all trying to be hateful, he just seems really interested in treading the line of being controversial. He says stuff I probably wouldn't say (and don't endorse) but it's pretty clear the guy's neither a racist or a homophobe so it's hard to get upset about. I'd like it if he stopped, but I don't really see that happening any time soon.

Yeah the 80's pickup lines was classic UYD vibes. I loved how Jah was like "they can't be that different" then immediately changes his tune to "this is like... how to rape" after hearing a single example. Funny bit and very interesting.
