Got a question for you guys regarding Boone and working for the Legion. I don't plan on doing any Legion quests, but I got an "Accepted" reputation with them. I spoke to Boone and he gave me his ultimatum that if I work with the Legion again he's leaving. If I leave Boone at the Lucky 38, get a high enough reputation with the Legion to get into their safehouse (via giving dogtags to Aurelius), and then immediately start killing them again and lowering my reputation to villified, will Boone still leave because I got a better reputation with them?

Also House was kinda responsible for Freeside being such a poo poo show to begin with. All the people out there got dumped there when he kicked them off the Strip and then was more than happy to let the NCR come to the betting tables and bring all their loser squatters with them just to gently caress up Freeside even more. At least Freeside and Westside have something of a working community. North Vegas is all assholes who just scavenge poo poo and yell at people.

The Ranger Station on top of the Lakelurk Nest is pretty neat, as is Searchlight. I think my favorite location though has got to be the 188. It's just a great little settlement and Alexander's always got good weapons.

Hedgehog Pie posted:I've still got a fair way to go so I've been skipping most posts. Sorry! How exactly does it corrupt them? There is tension between the Sorrows and the Dead Horses if you go to war, but peace is maintained by Graham, who can have his warlike tendencies calmed. The Happy Trails caravan successfully makes it to New Canaan, and the 88s are crushed, securing Zion and removing a potential ally to the Legion. The only person who really loses is Daniel, who I don't really sympathize with because he was keeping the Sorrows ignorant with his missionary work. He didn't care that they already had a religion, he tried to impose mormon virtues on them and didn't want them fighting. Like I said, there were moments of tension between the Sorrows/Dead Horses, but never outright war.

Well I'd argue that they'd be corrupted as soon as the Courier took Waking Cloud with them. She killed lots of White Legs in my playthrough even before I sided with Joshua.

I just went to Jacobstown to pick up Lily. drat I forgot how much I liked the mountain regions. I wish there was more stuff to do on the outskirts of the Rockies in this game. Nuclear Winter indeed. Also, funny story. I was looking for James Garret in the Atomic Wrangler, and he was upstairs. Being an idiot who forgot that the Garrets respond to any infraction by siccing their guards on you, I lockpicked my way in and then promptly realized my mistake. Not wanting to kill anyone in the place, I hightailed it for the door while guns are blasting all around me. I get outside and Rex isn't with me anymore. Turns out he ripped out two of the guard's throats before I managed to fast travel away and come back. Garrets didn't seem to care. I'm fairly well versed in Fallout Lore, but has there ever been an explanation why there are no mutant horses in the world? Its not like the NCR doesn't have trucks or vertiberds, and there's still plenty of motorcycles around, but I'd have thought Horses would be one of the species best able to thrive on open plains.

StandardVC10 posted:It's possible the NCR has some working trucks or trains that you just don't see because Bethesda's engine hates them. Thinking about it, having the Powder Gangers repair the railroad would be kind of useless if it just covered a short length of the Mojave. The NCR does have operational transport trucks. The Arms Merchant at 188 sells guns out of the back of the Truck next to her. So they must at least be common enough if a private business owner like her can get a hold of one (either that or the NCR made a concession with her to continue supplying weaponry after she was discharged).

I finished Old World Blues, and I was kinda disappointed? I mean, I enjoyed it, and the writing was hilarious, but I didn't feel the same impact that Dead Money or Honest Hearts gave me. Having five million Nightstalkers wandering around was incredibly stressful, but not in the fun way that Dead Money's endurance test was. And It wasn't as fun to wander around like Zion, because most of the assets were recycled from the Mojave. It just felt kind of aimless to me, even when I was upgrading the Sink. There were a bunch of locations that didn't really have anything to offer, and I wish there was more stuff involving Christine, Ulysses and Elijah's chase across Big MT. The enemies were a pain in the rear end but easily dealt with. Roving bands of invisible-until-right-on-top-of-you Lobotomites and exploding robo scorpions and the swarm of Nightstalkers meant I really couldn't enjoy the view. And this is coming from the guy who enjoyed getting jumped by three giant Yuo-Guai in Zion. That every mission was a fetch quest certainly didn't endear me to it much either. I dunno, it's not bad, but it feels more like they threw a ton of stuff into a crater with no idea how any of it should fit together. (Unless that is a subtle jab at Doctor Klein not understanding a drat thing happening outside the Think Tank)

Seashell Salesman posted:Basically every quest in HH and DM is a fetch quest too. I totally agree about the overworld spawns killing the feeling of exploration there. The next time I play it I'm going to use Puce Moose's reworked OWB spawns for sure. Yeah, I found all those Christine/Elijah/Ulyesses camps, but I wish there was more of it, and I also wish a few of them would be more challenging to get to. I mean, Ulysses point is right on the path towards your first quest in OWB. I guess I go easier on Honest Hearts and Dead Money because they make up their shortcomings with some really good atmosphere. The laid back feel of OWB clashes with the ambush mobs and the bullet sponge ROBOSCORPIONS. Individual parts are great in the DLC, but I feel that its parts are greater than its sum.

The game makes it pretty clear that while Caesar ultimately has optimistic goals, his entire society is a total failure because he hasn't passed on those values to his followers. Hell, Caesar himself outright says that most of the Legion can't read or write and only follow him because of his charisma.

I'm playing Project Nevada with one perk per level, experience gain halved, and the difficulty ramped up. Sure it's nice running around with a 10 END Courier, but a headshot is still a headshot if you don't have a helmet on. I've invested pretty heavily into Intense Training (about five levels I think), so I'm running around a herculean strongman with giant weapons and fists of steel.

Or how about we don't get Troy Baker and stop overexposing him so much, thanks. I like the guy but he's turning into goddamn Scott McNeil. Speaking of which, Scott McNeil should totally do some Fallout work. Why is it that New Vegas was able to get a metric poo poo ton of not only notable voice actors, but notable celebrity voice actors, and yet Bethesda made a gigantic deal out of having Max Von Sydow and Christopher Plummer in Skyrim? I mean come on, New Vegas had great VAs like Ian Gregory and James Horan, and yet they also have good actors like Zachary Levi, Matthew Perry and Rene Auberjonois doing bit roles, while Skyrim has Christopher Plummer, Max Von Sydow, and three different men all doing back Schwarzenagger impersonations.
