The PS file gets generated but there's always some error in the postscript and ghostscipt can't make images out it. Are you on OSX pre-Lion? If so, you'll need to do this: sudo sed -i -e 's/copy_trailer_attrs/process_trailer_attrs/g' /usr/local/share/ghostscript/8.71/lib/pdf2dsc.ps (Backup that file first if you want to be safe.)
