This is probably a long shot but I figured I'll ask here anyway - Does anyone happen to have any Dark Lord Day tickets that they're not going to be able to use? I'm local, got my tix but have a couple friends that still need 'em. I'd be willing to pay to have them overnighted, plus I'd also be sure to set aside some DL for trade if desired (as well as pay for the tickets too of course).

FreelanceSocialist posted:A co-worker has a bottle of CBS and a bottle of 2011 Black Ops he's interested in selling. Not sure if there would be any interest here. He's asking $100 for the CBS and $25 for the BO. We don't do that here. I know you're trying to help your "co-worker" but in the craft beer community artificially inflating prices is really frowned upon. If he would like to sell it for what he paid for it plus $15 shipping that is probably OK. Outright selling to make a profit is considered poor etiquette and in poor taste and is probably against the rules of this thread.

For trade: Minnesota beer. In search of: Cool/weird local beer from where you live. Minnesota beer: I don't think any of our breweries have nationwide distribution, and even the AB plant in Moorhead might just make regional stuff. So I drink a lot of obscure beer you've probably never heard of . Apparently three breweries here are in the top 50 nationwide (based on volume). Summit make a solid EPA that is my go-to beer when I make spicy food (pad thai, for example). I also really like their Oktoberfest and Winter Ale, which are (sadly) seasonal. Their other stuff is all pretty good but doesn't stand out for me personally. Schell is the other "bigger" brewery of note here. They became a bigger deal when they bought the Grain Belt brand in 2002 and thus became the makers of Grain Belt Premium, which is a local blue collar/hipster cheap beer of choice (you order one here by just saying "a Premium"). Grain Belt Nordeast has similar fruity notes, but is an amber and of somewhat better quality. For actual "Schell" beer, I recommend their Dark, which I use when friends of mine say "I don't like beer", or "I don't like dark beer". Their stout is interesting, in that I'd describe it as a strangely tasty campfire. And their Snowstorm winter seasonal is cool because it's something different every year; they made a Baltic porter a few years back that was fantastic. I'm not even going to link to the last of the three breweries from the article I linked earlier, since they make really cheap beer that isn't very good, and now they slap the word "craft" all over their packaging and ughhhh. Fittingly, as I write this their domain name has been hijacked and redirects to a Russian spam site. I think the flagship smaller brewery here has to be Surly, whose name is a hint regarding how seriously they take themselves. All of their year-rounds are fantastic, although Cynic doesn't stand out for me like the others. The only bad part is that you're going to be paying usually $2 or more a (pint) can, and seasonal/specialty stuff gets marked up by stores because, well, it sells. And if you didn't get the joke about seriousness before, here's another hint: the name of their winter seasonal is "Abrasive Ale, AKA 16 Grit, D.V.D.A.". A newer brewery is Fulton, who I mention because of their IPA (called "Sweet Child of Vine"). I like it because the hops taste like flowers A final mention (for now) is Brau Brothers and their Ring Neck brown ale. It's, um, really good. There's a lot I've missed, feel free to ask me about these or any other local stuff. There's some spillover here from western Wisconsin, so that's fair game, too.

Don't know about it being verboten for the thread, but really the Founders releases in general seem crazy over hyped. Yeah, Kentucky Breakfast Stout is super duper good, but it being so rare and expensive.... there are plenty of amazing beers to spend my time and money on. It's not that crazy good.

okay, since my brother failed to grant me my wish and bring back a decent haul from his trip to Florida, i'm looking to get some of the stuff he missed, namely Cigar City, Swamp Head, Peg's (maybe a stretch) and 7venth Sun. big stouts (Zhukov in particular), sours, and saisons are all of interest, and special-release stuff like BA Church on a Hill would also make me happy (really, i'll take anything that's not an IPA or plain old lager). would also like stuff from Michigan that doesn't make it out my way- Dark Horse, Kuhnhenn, JP- you know, what you'd expect someone to be looking for. for anybody else, i'm always looking for Crooked Stave. on my end, i have this crap to offer. of note are the highly-rated Hardywood Gingerbread Stout, Blue Mountain Dark Hollow, Imperial Stout Trooper, and Williamsburg Alewerks' Cafe Royale (even rage-saq liked it!) and Bourbon Barrel Porter (just picked up a fresh case of the latter and have a few bottles from last year). if you look at the other tabs, you can see what all i can get, because i'm obviously not cellaring IPAs and poo poo, as well as goons i've traded with. you can email me at smrandolph at gmail.

I've got some of the Hair Of The Dog / Deschutes collab Collage. It's a fantastic rich, sour blend of styles that big beer fans should enjoy regardless of their experience with other sours. PM me some options and I will probably deal for anything I'm interested in trying. I would like to cross dark lord off my list, so it would be a bonus if you can hook me up.

Lutha Mahtin posted:For trade: I keep getting told that Abrasive is like the King poo poo Beer of All DIPAs, so I really want to try some. I'm in Philly. We have Victory, but their distribution's so large now that you can probably get all their stuff. Yards is right in the city and makes some decent beers, including a really tasty stout. Dogfish Head certainly has weird beers. Troegs is in Harrisburg, they do some really good things. We have a brewery called Weyerbacher which makes some great beers with absolutely horrible labels; people seem to love their pumpkin beer but my favorites are their Double Simcoe IPA and Insanity, a bourbon-aged barleywine that's loving excellent once winter rolls around. Sly Fox is another local one, they're consistently decent (workmanlike, solid, not really *great*) but they make an excellent pilsner (I'm not even a big fan of the style, but theirs is right up their with Victory's) and a tasty quad called Ichor. I also have access to stuff that's not local but shows up in Philly for one reason or another. I can get Cantillon pretty consistently, even though the price keeps going up, same thing with 3Fonteinen. We get Russian River (Pliny doesn't show up in bottle form, though), Lost Abbey/Pizza Port, Stillwater, Ballast Point, Cigar City, some Jester King, Alesmith, Anchorage, and a shitload of Belgians. The prices on the RR sours can get pretty ridiculous too, but they're there. If you're interested in trading some Surly for any of the stuff I can get, shoot me a PM.

Looking for: I'm also looking for Surly stuff, particularly Bender and Coffee Bender - I'm looking to make one of Northern Brewer's home brew clones to see how close I can brew to a commercial sample, but I don't have any samples to compare to. Also interested in typical stuff you can get everywhere but here, i.e. Bell's, Founders, etc. For Trade: San Diego-area beer, particularly Alpine Beer co. Obviously have access to most typical production stuff in San Diego, which is basically all stuff you can get everywhere like Green Flash, Ballast Point, Alesmith, etc. etc. Of course, most of this is stuff you can get everywhere because while we have a lot of breweries in town, most of our well known breweries have relatively large distribution networks - the only hard to get one we have here than I can think of is Alpine. We have a limited number of nano-breweries that can their stuff like Monkey Paw and obviously about a billion random breweries that don't make anything you've ever heard of. Edit: I also have a few bottles of 2011 Ballast Point Victory at Sea left. Angry Grimace fucked around with this message at 17:38 on Aug 20, 2012 |

For Trade: Beers from White Birch, Throwback, Candia Road, Maine Beer Company. Obviously, their year-round lineups are easier to get, but if you want a specific beer, let me know and I will see what I can find. I also have one bottle of Frangelic Mountain left. In Search Of: drat near any of your local, tiny brewery beers. I tend to trade dollar-for-dollar on the retail prices unless it is some crazy vintage barrel-aged unicorn magical beer or something. I work for a craft specialty bar/liquor store in AZ. So my "For Trade" is just a loose/fast write up. If it comes to AZ I can get it and in quantity some might not be able to. I have PMs, feel free to hit me up. For Trade: I have access to some of this years Parabola/Sucaba from Firestone Walker. Also, I have a bottle of vintage (I believe 2010) Avery The Czar I could part with. Along with everything that typically comes to Arizona, we get a surprisingly varied distribution range from the proximity of neighboring brewery hot spots. Namely, CO powerhouses (Odell, Breckenridge, Oskar Blues, etc), Utah up and comers (Epic, which is a big fav with their Big Bad Baptist), and CA usuals Stone/Ballast Point/Mission/etc. Also, get Bell's here. In Search Of: My main want right now is a case or half-case of Heady Topper from The Alchemist. Past that regular stuff from Surly, Cigar City and Alpine are high on my trade list. I haven't been trading long and mostly locally so far. Favorite styles are big fruity DIPAs and rich/heavy Russian Imperial Stouts (coffee/chocolate is good). Curious as to what breweries go where? I love this site for general reference. http://www.seekabrew.com/?s=AZ&sort=alpha
