You guys are thinking way too linear.

The kid's session is the last Sburb session and the first one at the same time. The kids create the Green Sun (and possibly also Lord English), which being nonlinear propagates itself backwards through the timeline, ensuring its own creation and making sure LE has universes to eat. So in that regard, it's the "first" - but it's also the last (probably) in that we're very definitely leading up to some sort of final showdown with LE leading up to the sequence of events that ends the whole paradoxial clusterfuck that defines existence in Homestuck, leading off to something else entirely.

I mean really, would Hussie make the last act anything less confusing? I think not.

Pop-a-matic Vrillyhoo Hammer is an awesome name for a weapon.

The god tier mechanics explanation is really interesting. Scratch's quote about Rose having a 50% chance at reaching godhood seems like funny math to me. To me, it sounds like his logic is that there's a 50% chance Rose goes god tier through option one, 50% chance through option two, and Scratch knows that she won't go with option one, therefore there's a 50% chance she'll reach god tier? Maybe he's not a gambling man just because he's bad at math.

I think the idea is that the 50% fail rate was because he knew she'd achieve it by the moon-core-explosion-bed route, so if he was speaking to Rose and she tried to do it on her quest bed she would fail (because that's not what she was supposed to do and she'd get split into a beta timeline and be doomed)

Which... kind of makes sense?

The only thing Scratch said about where he sent the Condesce was that it was a place Lord English couldn't go himself, and Earth doesn't really meet that description. I'm betting she's the person who's supposedly killing all the horrorterrors. What's more fitting for a Feferi's ancestor.

The other reason why people think she's crocker is the insignia on her battleship very strongly resembles the Betty Crocker logo (similar outline, same color scheme and design)

Also nana's whole "She was not really human!" story she told to FF.

Been a while since my last post! But after that (amazing) flash, there's something that's been bothering me that I dont think anyone has brought up yet.

The song "Black" opens with "Make her a member of the Midnight Crew". They could have just as easily used the line "I'm a member of the Midnight Crew" from the same song, which would have made more sense given the context, so it seemed very likely this was a bit of foreshadowing. I had always speculated that "her" referred to Snowman, what with the blackrom between her and Spades. Baring death having a revolving door (which is entirely possible), this avenue seems to be closed.

Was I perhaps reading to much into that one line? Or might there possibly be another candidate for a female member of the Midnight Crew that I haven't considered?

You're reading too much into it. Hussie confirmed as much when they made that flash, way back when.

Nah. If Jack beats Vriska, he just goes on to killing Bilious Slick, PM shows up after him, they're at the same point they are in the EoA.

Actually, it occurs to me that even if he's in a beta timeline, Jack HAS to use Red Miles on Bilious Slick at some point, since he already went to Earth and saw it being used, which made him escape to the troll universe.

Or maybe he doesn't have to because that's the entire point of a beta timeline.

Or maybe my head hurts now. :saddowns:

He doesn't, Beta timelines can have all the paradoxes in the world and it doesn't matter. The kids were never created in the beta timeline, for instance.

Instead of yelling and Vriskachat, and to try to fill up some time until the next updates come, let's try interspersing constructive speculation with a dumb good-times-and-feelings thought game.

If you haven't noticed, we've been through a lot! This Homestuck thing is a lot of pages long! And obviously 10/25 and the end of Act 5 were pretty important and monumental in the lifetime of the comic, so let's say if MSPA was over right now, that this was in fact the end, what was the highlight for you?

RULES: A character, a conversation, a plot device, a one-off joke, the way a recurring gag mutated, whatever. This could be anything. If Homestuck never updated again, what is the bit about it you'll remember most strongly most fondly, and why?

HARD MODE RULES: You can't pick an [S] page!

It's only fair that I start this off. So, Rose! When the POV switched to Rose I thought for the first time, "Gee, I might end up liking this better than Problem Sleuth."

I find Rose incredibly amusing, probably because, without being overly embarrassing or cringe-inducing, she reminds me a lot of myself when I was an overly prolix 13-year-old on the internet. Plus, her interactions with Mom were comic gold, and there's something about their swanky Frank Lloyd Wright house being filled with gaudy wizard tchotchkes that absolutely slays me. I know some folks were bored by her when she started keeping secrets, but I've been interested in her arc all the way through. I am mildly curious as to why, when she revived as her Dreamself, she didn't offer thoughts on having been grimdark, though, since it's still unclear what happened there.

But oh well, I guess we'll never know, since Homestuck is over forever!

(You don't have to keep up this silly pretense but please, see this as an opportunity to reflect positively on the story so far. My friends and I have discovered that there's so much stuff to this comic that it's always fun to find out which parts people favor particularly.)

That's easy. This entire chatlog.
