The jungle is the same as the one shown in WV: Ascend and this wallpaper when we see history of the island. Since Grandpa Jake apparently cleared the forest in the B1 universe, I wonder what prevented Jade from doing it in B2. Maybe the lusi monsters were too dangerous? That can't all be pumpkin growth.

My all-time favorite piece of fiction, Infinite Jest, actually did exactly what Hussie explicitly set out to do* 15 years ago. I actually got into Homestuck originally after needing something as a substitute with how obsessed I was over Infinite Jest, if anyone here reads regular books and not just online webcomic books I can't reccomend it enough. I've never read any Wallace or Pynchon, but the style sounds sort of similar to Catch-22. It's one of those books where you have no idea what's going on and when things happen until suddenly it all makes sense, and the impact is so much more than what could be achieved using the same book with a traditional narrative. Homestuck went from a thing that I was reading to pass the time to something that I knew I would follow to the end when WV was introduced, just to see how he would fit into a story about some kids playing a game. Hussie is very good at making everything in his stories snap together in a satisfying way, and I think I enjoy that even more than the characters.

I can't remember if it was Andrew or someone else who first said this, but troll romance is pretty much the same goddamn thing as human romance. We just don't have special names for them. You don't have to watch many romantic comedies to find a couple that hates each other but is still soperfectforoneanothersqueeee. Same with best friends. There are probably people who do the same thing as auspistices too. I completely understand how people would be confused by them, but a carapace person's hatelove shouldn't really come as a surprise. vvv I get that.  Sometimes I think people in this thread tend to overthink things and question stuff that really shouldn't be shocking.
