Cool this thread is back! Been to a few places recently but can't be arsed to recite them so just posting to say i'll be going to Dinner on wednesday for lunch and i am so loving excited.

My dad works on mount pleasant so i've eaten at caravan a fair bit and tbh i think their breakfasts are really really overpriced and overrated. would much rather go to the cafe on the corner. My brother is a bar manager at the Eagle which is great as its been my ads local for years and now i get cheap food whenever i'm in the area. Best thing about exmouth market is the thai curries for lunch followed by an eclair from the nice french lady. Will come check out Bincho soon though.

Finally made it to Pitt cue last night. So tiny! I was initially disappointed when they brought out only 3 pork ribs but that was more then enough. They were cooked to perfection and delicious but definitely need a generous helping of BBQ sauce. That aside the coleslaw was poo poo, watery mayonnaise and too much parsley and the bread was dire. I could see they we going for a rustic thing but it was cold and almost offensively tough compared to the ribs. Would really have preferred something edible or fries to mop up the sauce. My girlfriend had the bone marrow mash and that was amazing. I'll almost certainly be going again as the meat was great though might try the beef ribs next and it was pretty great value. Also found out there is going to be a new, bigger site around Liverpool street.

On thursday i went to http://www.brasseriezedel.com/ and it was great! Really reasonably priced for the quality of the food, fillet steak for £15 which is probably the best i've had in london (not gone to hawksmoor) and a set menu of beetroot salad, duck confit, sorbet and wine and coffee was £20. Stunningly beautiful place too. Menu is all in french though but they have an english one available.

The fryers delight on theobalds road is a proper traditional chippy where they cook everything in beef dripping but it's a bit out the way and i haven't been there for a while so i'm not sure what it's like nowadays. Probably worth marking down if you ever find yourself around there though.

On saturday i went to spuntino and christ it was good. Had to wait 20 minutes for a seat but had some great mixed drinks whilst waiting. For those who don't know it's basically new york tapas so you have to order a few dishes which can get expensive fast. We chose mac and cheese which was a good shout as it was nice and filling if a little on the bland side and under seasoned in comparison to the other offerings. The sliders were incredible, we got the pulled pork with pickled apple and the beef with bone marrow which is the best burger thing masquerading as a burger i think i've ever eaten, shame it's so small. A salad made it seem slightly healthier then it was went for the ham hock one which was beautiful although there were several others i could have gone for. Food+drinks for two was £56 and absolutely worth it, 100% going back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

Probably a little over priced but am definitely going to be going back lots. I knows there's a load of people in here from around that area and it is well worth trying. I don't mind queuing for a table, but a hour outside on a January evening was pretty drat cold. The food is fantastic and pretty cheap but make sure you know what you're getting yourself in for. Some dudes were queuing for two hours outside. It's quite good if you go with a mate for dinner when it warm as you just take it in turns to get rounds from the pub next door.

Last night i went to The Delaunay and it was so, so good. The starters all looked pretty uninspiring so no one ended up having one but the rib of beef sunday roast was heavenly. My brother had a brioche burger which he scoffed down and wouldn't let me try so i'd take that as a mark of approval. My GIRLFRIEND's strudle was apparently not that great but everyone else (including myself) was salivating over their deserts they had today. Basically great icecream with freshly whipped cream and crumble but who doesn't love that? It's really loving expensive mind but i highly recommend it if you want a proper treat.

It was my dads 60th yesterday and my 25th recently so my mum took as to Gordon Ramsey at claridges and it was extremely disappointing. To start with we turned up slightly early and when I asked if the table was ready or if we should go and have a drink at bar for a bit the person at the front replied with "pfff good luck finding somewhere to sit" before someone more helpful explained that the table was already ready. The service was generally pretty patchy with a bored waitress half heartedly trying to take drinks orders while we were trying to get seated and the sommelier plonking down an iPad on the table which was apparently the wine menu. Our main waitress was very good but stuff took far too long to come out toward the end even allowing for the fact that we were a party of seven. The food itself was again pretty mixed. A lot of it was lacking in any great deal of flavour and the menu just seemed to have lobster and foie gras put in as many places as possible to make it seem more up market. The mains were pretty decent with absolutely fantastic meat alongside very average vegetables. By the end we got fed up of waiting and asked for the bill before the cake my mum had ordered for us came out as it had been so long, when it finally came the names were spelt wrong despite them having received them in writing in advance. In the end it was a lovely dinner but just very disappointing for the price. What's worse is that my mum had been called up by the Ledbury and offered a table but turned it down as she thought claridges would be abit more opulent and fun. I realise that this is probably the most firstworldproblems post in the history of the Internet but I'm about to go get smashed with a mate then eat tons of meat at St Johns so I don't give a gently caress but if you're thinking about going somewhere up market then claridges should be way, way down on your list.

As an aside I'm on my way back from St Johns and it was fantastic. Completely unpretentious just outstanding food. Me and my mate had rabbit offal and calfs brains to start which we're great. They went fantastic together (we halved them and shared) as the rabbit was very rich and the brain was almost like fish. Both had lovely sauces to mop up with the sourdough bread. For a main we had a rabbit and ox tongue pie to share which was mouthwatering and we had greens on the side which were some of the best veggies I've had. My mate had marmalade ice cream which he wouldn't stop talking about and I had a crumble which while delicious was by far the weakest part of the meal. 3 courses for two plus coffees and a lovely bottle of wine was £97. Not bad for one of the top 50 restaurants in the world, I will be back when my wallet stops crying.

Shameless plug but my brothers pub near old street, the three crowns, does quite a few draft beers plus lots of different bottles. Great food too but not kosher and not much for veggies. In crouch end the kings head has a big selection of beers but craft brew pubs aren't really a big thing in England as a whole really.

Finally made it to dotorri's on sunday night. Fantastic, well worth the wait. It's been reviewed plenty ITT so i won't add much except to say i was very pleasantly surprised how generous the portions of sushi were and that i saw what i felt was some extreme rudeness from a pair of people who came in a nursed a single beer (didn't order food) each for an hour and a half while the place was packed and people who wanted to eat were constantly coming in and getting turned away.
