I think it's on the same level of Radiohead's pay-what-you-want experiment, in that you already have to be someone big enough for people to care about in order for these things to work.

But yeah, I do hope it catches on in general. Paying $20 for a DVD of a comedy special was almost never an option for me and I would wait until it was on Netflix or something. But $5 is a no-brainer.
