No hyperbole, I think that was one of the worst TG episodes/specials. I'd rather watch any regular episode or even the one where they gently caress up someone's garden.

You have to special-order the tires for the Veyron, they're made on a special production line because they need to be absolutely perfectly made. It's no fun having a blowout while doing a top speed run, after all. Whether you can actually order them directly from Michelin, I would think so, if you can pony up the cash.

I think you need to have a specialist fit the tires, probably because seating the bead properly etc. on a 400+kph ultrahypermegacar is somewhat important. The Veyron uses the Michelin PAX runflat system, which require specially-designed rims:

Obviously, that's not a Veyron wheel, PAX tires are used on a bunch of more pedestrian vehicles as well.

Holy poo poo, I didn't know PAX still existed. I thought it was a massive failure, I remember seeing design drawings for old PAX equipment a couple years ago.

From an engineering perspective, PAX works. The problem lay in the fact that in order to service PAX wheels and tires, a tire shop would need to buy tens of thousands of dollars of new equipment for one specific task. Getting enough shops on board with the idea proved to be impossible.

Sounds like standard michelin engineering practice then :v:
