I refuse to believe that Richard was actually in that garage removing that transmission, though. That's quite a bit of a stretch.

Not to mention if it wasn't even his car, they wouldn't let him tear it apart.

You know, I may be unpopular for saying this, but I would love to see more affordable stuff on the show. The £1000 shed challenges were great as they were something the average viewed could one day afford, and it's nice to see them gently caress around with fiat 500's and smaller sports cars such as the S2000 every now and again.

Would be better than SIARPC anyway

The cheap car challenges, for me, are the best part. They could do the whole show that way and I'd be happy.

So you're saying that at the current rate of improvement and growth that in five more years we'll all be driving Chi-UMF ACK HELP IM BEING ATTACKED.

Looks like they have to take a notoriously dangerous car, 'fix' what made it dangerous, and enter it in a demo derby. Looks like the cars end up being a Pinto, a Corvair, and a Suzuki Samurai, which was shown rolling violently.

I thought last night's TGUS was pretty good, but waaaay too scripted. Everybody and their mother knew the first instance of the Pinto catching on fire was fake, and everybody and their mother knew it would explode at the end as they walked away from it.

I do genuinely think Rut was having trouble controlling that Corvair, that looked hilariously prone to oversteer.

I love that Morgan. It's just so ridiculous. It's like they took everything that we find 'normal' in a car and threw it out.

Engine? external air-cooled two-cylinder!
Chassis? Wood!
Number of wheels? Three, because why not?
Sound? Spectacular!

I love it for so many reasons. Is it even rear-wheel drive?

(I also loved the Brutus/Bentleyfire thing, and really nearly everything about this episode, though I thought the SIARPC was a little lacking. It wasn't terrible, since I like Blur, but it was kind of boring)

I'm honestly enjoying how Top Gear US does a lot more crazy challenges. This one is awesome.

One thing, though: I swear every season they have to load livestock (or some other farm stuff like, say, manure) into cars not meant for them and transport them. Other countries, we do more than this in America, I swear!

Yeah, I was pissed when they basically just stole the ideas of TGUK (for the first 2 limos), but I do think I ended up laughing more at the US version than the UK version.

I think they were conceptually better.

Limo 1: Clarkson had the Fiat Panda lengthened to stupid lengths. Tanner had the Vette. The Vette is better because he can literally powerslide it and do burnouts. It was more like a combination of Clarkson's Panda and Hammond's Rover, but awesome.

Limo 2: May had the Saab/Alfa and Rut had the VW/VW. I think Rut's was hilarious because it was symmetrical and equally awful on both ends. The open air in the middle was similar to Hammond's MG, but I think Rut's just worked better.

Limo 3: C'mon, the Lincoln Popemobile was just the best. The fact that the throttle sticks and it plows through three cars and comes out with hardly any damage is hilarious. And I'm pretty sure sitting in that comfy armchair making martinis while the Stig powerslides it is the most ridiclously awesome moment in any of TGUS.

Q2: JUST HOW awesome is plaid?"

So, apparently there's 16 seasons of top gear on netflix, what are your guys favorite episodes? I usually just watch the show when it's on TV and have no familiarity with the show other than enjoying watching it.

The Porsche challenge (S5E6) and the Italian mid-engined supercars for less than a second-hand Mondeo challenge (S7E4) are my two favorites easily.

The Cheap coupés that aren't Porsches challenge (S6E2) is also really good but not as spectacular as the other two. Worth watching for James May essentially demolition-derbying a V12 Jaguar XJS.

I thought it was a decent episode. My dad just bought an SHO so it was nice to see one of those driven properly, and it was good to see the Caprice (hopefully in several years the car-buying public can pick them up at auction?).

I didn't really like the latest episode very much. I'm kind of sick of their mentality that small cars = useless. OH NO I CAN'T OFFROAD MY FIAT 500, IT'S A poo poo CAR!

It would have been one thing just to jokingly take them offroad, but to have everybody laughing at the car's small sizes, exaggerating getting blown off of the highway by semis, and mocking their slowness on the highway ("I finally hit 65! yeah!) isn't really going to go very far in getting people to put away their gigantic SUVs and such. Those cars (with the exception of the smart car, I suppose) are all perfectly fine on the highway.

Now that I'm not on my phone, I can elaborate. Anybody that hasn't seen Top Gear US, or that watched some bad episodes in the past and swore it off, should watch that episode. It really was top notch.

The best part was when Rutledge, even though it was costing him victory, outbid another buyer so he could own Faust's Merkur. Because Rutledge paid $600 for it, Faust's car sold for more than his did and secured the win. I gotta say, I would have done the same thing.

Still, when the Caprice's motor broke completely free from the mounts and cracked open, spilling oil everywhere, I just couldn't stop laughing.

I thought the G-Wagen 'review/challenge' at the end dragged on a little too long, but it's such a pretty vehicle that I could forgive it.
