I'm looking for a World War I book that focuses on the political/cultural aspects of the war. It seems like most basic overviews spend a disproportionate amount of time on the battles and military startegies.

Speaking of Perlstein, part 3 of his right-wing trilogy comes out this summer. The bad guys win in the end. http://www.amazon.com/The-Invisible-Bridge-Nixon-Reagan/dp/1476782415/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397749765&sr=8-1&keywords=perlstein

Does anyone have any suggestions for books that clearly outline military strategies? I ask because I'm tired of reading war history books and being when they explain things like encirclement and flanking the rear, etc.

Is Perlstein going to write any more for that series? Would love to see him take on the Reagan administration.
