One of the guys from Of Montreal and Jupiter One started his own side project recently (past year?). He's going by Kishi Bashi and just recently signed to Joyful Noise Records. It's sort of an electro-synth-pop with a Japanese twist (at least I think his family is from Japan, though he was born in the US). He currently has an EP out that was supported through Kickstarter and has a full length album coming sometime this year. It All Began With A Burst is from his upcoming album and I think it's pretty great. Can anyone recommend any good beach/surf pop bands like Tennis, Best Coast, and Wavves? I'm really digging Cape Dory and am hoping there's more out there like them. Also, Kishi Bashi's new solo album is available for download right now from http://www.joyfulnoiserecordings.com/ even though the physical album doesn't get released until April. Really good stuff, but my favorites are one's he's already released on YouTube like Manchester, Bright Whites, and It All Began With a Burst. lockeandthemachine posted:Christoper Del Rosario is some kid who writes and sings his music. Hes a nobody but the music is great. Thanks for sharing, nice songs. Kinda reminds me of Tom Brosseau. JohnnyWarbucks fucked around with this message at 16:48 on Mar 26, 2012 |

thehoodie posted:Just wanted to say that I listened to these guys as a result of your recommendation, and they are extremely good! Are the other bands mentioned by JohnnyWarbucks similar in sound/quality? Any other bands of a similar genre you would recommend? I listened to Beach House's latest album and thought it was pretty good! I will have to check out their others as well. In comparison to Best Coast and Tennis, I would say Beach House is fairly heavy while the others are very light and poppy (at least based on what I've heard from them, which is not a lot).
