Just a couple Indie Folk artists from the area I grew up in. I really like their music. Travis Vick: http://www.myspace.com/travisvickmusic Scott Bartenhagen: http://www.facebook.com/ScottBartenhagen?sk=app_204974879526524 They're both really good artists with solid songwriting/singing. Give 'em a chance.

Davincie posted:Chairlift is cool, but I don't really feel I can judge them fairly due to all the fake 80's nostalgia they dig up? Imagine Dragons is amazing, me and my buddy used to always go see them in Provo when they were just "a local band." I'd see the lead singer at school sometimes too. All around great music... I love Radioactive and On Top of the WOrld

The Paper Kites, I found them while farting around on youtube, here are a couple of really good songs. I'd say they're fairly similar to Fleet Foxes. Bloom My favorite song by them so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8inJtTG_DuU Featherstone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0IDiVQxZYg&feature=relmfu

I don't know how everyone feels about music in other languages, but I happened to run across an awesome Chilean band that has a really good, dreamlike quality to their music. And the lyrics, if you can understand them, are generally very good. Even if you don't understand Spanish, give it a try, because the music is really good. Ok, so I''ve been digging on some upbeat(ish) folksy songs lately, such as "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, or "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men. Anybody know of any songs that might be seen as similar to these two? Or even bands that produce similar music. Thanks!

FactsAreUseless posted:Try Local Natives. They opened for Edward Sharpe during their first tour, and they kind of sound like Fleet Foxes except with electric guitar and drums. Also try: The Dodos, Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, Akron/Family, The Books, Port O'Brien, Dosh, Yeasayer's first album (only that one, though) and Iron and Wine's two latest albums. They all have pretty different but still folk-based sounds, so give them all a try and see what you like. Hmm, I've heard of most of these, but haven't listened to most of them for a long time. Didn't local natives just come out with another album?

The SARS Volta posted:Rhye appears to have no catalog of work yet beyond "The Fall," but it's a pleasant song in the vein of Zero 7 or Supreme Beings of Leisure. incoherent posted:Pacific Air Love these two. They're freaking amazing. Thank you. Is there more like this? Upbeat is preferable. I checked out the other bands you mentioned but I don't like any of them as much as these two. Have some Vacationer! Not quite sure how to describe these guys, but it's like upbeat-ish electro-pop. Really good stuff, so check it out. http://youtu.be/KrGg_SUBVdg http://youtu.be/8BzzJdkkIbY http://youtu.be/UzOaKcuAFnc And how about The Constellations, which is a bit more rock-like. Very good stuff. http://youtu.be/CWmAm0AhOlQ http://youtu.be/YJnlSF5JONg

So I have a good buddy who happens to be in a band, Westward the Tide, they're pretty popular locally and I feel like they make some pretty good Folk/Indie music. You can find their EP here: http://westwardthetide.bandcamp.com/ I'd suggest starting with "Streetlights" or "Everything Is." All the songs are really good though.
