Probably my best find from BIRP has been Low Roar, an indie-folk act from Iceland that brings me back to when I was younger and listening to Sigur Ros still had that "wow" factor. This song is excellent.

Thanks so much for this recommendation. I'm really loving Low Roar, especially the song Nobody Else (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2lFAZeJDWA&feature=related) which is incredible enough that I just bought their album right away despite being a poor student frequently exposed to many many many indie bands.

A recent personal favourite of mine are Lanterns On the Lake, folky indie rock six-piece who released their debut album last year, signed to Bella Union, supported Explosions in the Sky and are going to support Low later this year. They have both male and female vocalists. I really like their song Lungs Quicken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEsNlpSk_Rs

I also recently discovered The Mountaineering Club. If you visit their website after Lanterns On the Lakes', you might experience a faint sense of deja vu. It feels like fast-paced postrocky soundscape electronically influenced ambient indie. This is their track Nansen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIL9TaQr2-g

And now for something completely different, which i'm pretty sure has already been talked about (but it's a great album so it deserves one more, albeit terrible, post about it): what do you think of the last Chairlift?

I actually just bought it yesterday after being unable to stop listening to it for ages. I'm mostly incredibly impressed; the songs are very diverse, the lyrical content is interesting, the sounds and mix are lovely, and it's catchy enough to demand immediate re-listens. Her vocal range is drat impressive too, and I think the vocal really makes the album stand out. My favourite track by far is Cool as Fire which is amazing but overall I would have liked to see more experimentation with moods/track lengths.
