Here's a local artist from Auckland, New Zealand who just released her debut album a few weeks ago. It's a drum n bass cross chip tune type deal. I think she's absolutely fantastic.

Good tracks

Two more, here's one for people who don't like answering unsolicited phone calls,

Great suggestion, thanks! I've been listening to these pretty much nonstop since yesterday, didn't find their albums on Bandcamp except for one. However, I did find most of their discography on bleep.com which is new to me, will be picking out an album or two soon enough.

Yard has made it's way into my regular rotation, good stuff, thanks RedneckwithGuns! And another thanks to Rageaholic for making me aware of American Analog Set's existence, not sure how I managed to miss them up until now. Been listening to their latest quite a bit.

As for a contribution of my own, https://mangelrecords.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-4

Don't think it's on youtube or spotify yet.

Also enjoying Mellie,

Karl Tremblay, lead singer of Quebec band Les Cowboys Fringants, dies at 47

Probably not all that well known in English circles but, this is very sad news. Here's a decent playlist of some of their work.

edit: Short clip of their appearance at the FEQ this summer

edit 2: For context I guess, it was announced yesterday he will be receiving a state funeral, minus the religious component.

first track didn't endear itself to me but I kept going and ended up picking this up. I'd like to thank you, Automata, for making me poorer. :tipshat:

gladie released a few acoustic versions of songs from their last album which I've been enjoying, name your own price too.

Keeping up the rabbit theme (thanks captn, been enjoying French for Rabbits, also the artwork is great but hard to justify the shipping for a physical copy, tempting though), I've been listening to L'année du Lapin by Chloé Jara-Buto which is pretty good. Been spending some time sifting through the new local releases on bandcamp trying to support local artists and she stood out. Also liking Chien from her.

edit: I'm terrible at describing and classifying music but wanted to drop more than just a link so I thought to copy paste her own bio, but it's pretty sparse, maybe effective regardless,

You got me curious, $1500 if you shot it in 16mm and got it right the first time. It's about 5k for 400 ft which is like 10 minutes run time.

So you’re saying it’s possible :thunk:

for someone that isn’t me.

I’ve been picking up suggestions from this thread for a while, my Bandcamp has a bunch. A few standouts, Ariane Roy, Beach Bunny, Chloe Jara-Buto, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, Klô Pelgag, Viviane Audet, Mellie, Balm, Acht Eimer Huhnherzen, Work Wife, Camilla Sparksss, die Neue Sachlichkeit, Erregung Öffentlicher Erregung.

I should just create a playlist with my best of from this thread. I also think I remember someone who was adding suggestions people posted here to a Spotify playlist? If I haven’t fabricated that memory, I wouldn’t mind following it if anyone has the link.

Don’t think I’ve seen Camilla Sparksss mentioned here before, she’s got a bunch of interesting stuff. Canadian, but spent some time in Switzerland, I think. I came across her music when going down a Swiss themed music rabbit hole and since I’m terrible at categorizing music this is from her bio,

An instinctive mixture of experimental, lo-fi electronic pop, and melodic collages of a wide range of genre styles, performed with turntables, fat synthesisers and cutting vocals.

Cats are the best people. :colbert: Can you FaceTime with George? I used to do that with my kitty and he definitely recognized me, although he was certainly confused. At least he knew I was still around, somehow, in the weird magic box.

Stopped by the record store today, didn't get anything but the cover art on this album was compelling so I took the name down, and now it looks like I'm gonna have to go back tomorrow to pick it up,
