I really, really, really like the new Spoon album. They've very quietly grown to be probably my favorite band of the past decade or so. I typically only like bands for stretches of two or three albums at a time before I lose interest, but they just don't miss for me.

thrilla in vanilla posted:Got my Hot Thoughts LP and it's really good, which I guess is to be expected from Spoon. Pink Up is a really cool song. They've been talking about using Inside Out from the last record as a starting point for this one and it really shows. Spoon's sound and approach are basically tailor-made to my musical tastes. Their albums generally take a couple weeks to fully click for me, but they've been my favorite band for basically the entire last decade. Standouts for me after first listen: Do I Have To Talk You Into It, Pink Up, and Tear It Down

I've been binging on drumming videos and happened across Paris Monster, a two-piece where the drummer also sings and plays keyboards. I thought it was going to be gimmicky trash but it's...insanely good and I have no idea how I haven't heard of them before. Basically every video I've seen of their live performances is great, but this one in particular is really clicking with me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMcIQy1z7eA
