I hope you all already know about Highlife. Technically a one-man-band composed of Sleepy Doug Shaw from the collaboration White Magic, Highlife is a moniker which has produced only one recording so far, an EP called Best Bless: But it's one of my favorite collections of music. It's mainly Shaw singing and playing layers of fingerpicked guitar against stomping drums in a Brooklyn homage to the titular West African "highlife" genre of music. It's somewhat abstract and built on repetition, but never wanders into electronic regularity, and instead I get this sense of cyclic emotion from the three main songs of the EP, like it captures the loops of devotion and delusion that people fall into. I might be far too into it, but check it out. http://youtu.be/GOp9SBe8m7g http://youtu.be/Qp65RAQUZJw

I'm confused. You guys don't find that surreal sci-fi dancey poo poo with Grimes just messing around and singing the whole time doesn't visually represent her music entirely? This is as Grimes as it gets
