Tennis is the loving best. Tour just announced, buy your tix everybody.

E: also, they made a really cool Spotify playlist of their lesser known 60’s/70’s influences

Wow, great new Tennis and Tame Imapala albums on the same day!

also, I love Hot Chip but did not care for the new album and felt those songs brought the show down when I saw them a few months ago. Their concert 10 years ago was probably one of my favorite I’ve ever been to.

Paperback Writer

So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth and New Gods are my favorites from new Grimes. I love spacey, melodic songs.

and a week later new Tame Impala and Tennis are still getting played nonstop by me. I really think all 3 of these albums would’ve been in my top 5 of last year haha.

Don’t know how this went by my radar, thanks!

it seems pretty good, like you said.. groovy. I feel like Sarah’s vocals still sound good but something about the melodies in this and III haven’t been as strong as the first two albums.

I like the new Bright Eyes song. It’s a shame the show I have tickets to is probably getting postponed, but I feel like the new album is going to be a good one.

I think you should. The second half doesn’t do much for me but I love the first 4 tracks and Spellbound.

:( Tom has always been such a great frontman and nice person when I’ve heard him speak(obviously things weren’t pretty though). This sucks.

edit: band just revealed they kicked him out once he was found guilty of domestic assault.

What did y'all think of the new Bright Eyes? I only listened once but I was disappointed :(
I’m actually pleasantly surprised. Just because I did not really connect with anything from his past couple solo albums and Better Oblivion Community Center and figured it would be more of the same. The first couple tracks were a little boring and had me worried, but I feel like it really picks up. I think it’s the Nate Walcott + Mike Mogis effect. And it’s getting better on every listen!

this is very subjective but my personal indie trifectas also would include

Bright Eyes - Lifted/I’m Wide Awake/Digital Ash
Portugal. the Man - Satanic Satanists/American Ghetto/In The Mountains
Elliott Smith - Either/Or/XO/Figure 8

I’m a big fan of Andrew Bird’s Armchair Aprocrypha and The Mysterious Production of Eggs, kind of bummed he abandoned that style and basically never plays his old songs live.

seeing St. Vincent join him for Lusitania in 2012 was cool though.

I have a friend who has similar taste as me but hates Radiohead.

I love nearly everything on The Bends through In Rainbows, and some great b sides. They really lost me on King of Limbs and on though, and a lot of their live show with it. So wish I could’ve seen them back in the 00’s.

I’m a little late on Arlo Parks but I’m loving her. What a voice. A friend had mentioned her album to me, but it wasn’t until I saw BBC had an interview with her on Elliott Smith that I really dug in. I can definitely feel that similar warmth and vulnerability that his music had.
