Is there actually going to be a usable version of ICS from Cyanogen Mod for the Nook Color any time soon?

I'm running it on my NC. It works great, although the wifi SOD thing is back. There's an XDA thread in the NC Dec section with unofficial night lies. They also have a fixed GApps since there's some problems with the official gapps that are around.

I've been using it for two weeks as a daily driver and find no issues with it. The only bugs are HD videos on Youtube dont work and the SOD thing.

I loved my Nook Color running an ICS ROM. It was super usable, and even my non-technical wife found it good to use, and liked it. There were no usability issues, except the sleep of death bug that only happened if you shut if off with wifi on, but even that took about eight to nine hours to kill the battery. I realize that's sort of a :goonsay: thing, but at $150 you could do a lot worse.

EDIT: Full disclosure, I did sell both of my Nook Colors, but that wasn't because I didn't like them. My wife has an iPhone, so I figured I'd get her an iPad2 to compliment that, so she didn't have to buy apps twice. And I only used my Nook to watch TV and movies on the train to work, times when I should be doing other things, so I got rid of it to remove the distraction.

I picked up an HTC Flyer for $200 used from Amazon. I really like it, I used it for a couple of work meetings. I really like the note taking feature. I put a screen protector on it, and the additional friction of the protector makes the pen work better.

I really like it, and with a cool black book like case, its replaced my Moleskinne. I'm curious to see how well the Evernote integration works, I guess you can search with in handwritten notes for text somehow. I can't figure out how though.

I just got a TF300, and it's ok. Coming from a 7" tablet, the Transformer is huge. I'm not sure if like something that big. The problem is that it's widescreen, so if you aren't watching videos on it, and are instead reading, there's no comfortable way to hold it.

My biggest gripe with it is that if it's downloading something, or maybe it's when it's writing to the SD card, the OS becomes so sluggish it's basically unusable. When I first logged in and it downloaded the 100 apps I had on my old tablet, it took a couple hours before I could use it. I ended up just canceling the download, rebooting, and then it worked perfectly. When I tried to download a 100mb file from a website, though, it did the same thine. I'm not sure if I like it. I may return it and try a 8.9" Galaxy or XYBOARD.

However, I do like the basically unskinned buttery smooth Android 4.0.4 experience.

I also ordered the knock off Apple smart cover. It's designed for the Tf201, but the dimensions are basically the same on the TF300, and the connectors are the same, so it should fit. I'll come back with a trip report and I'll have some comical accounts of my friends making fun of my fake iPad.

Although, I may honestly just return it for the Galaxy note 10.1. I'm hoping they announce that at the Samsung Conference.

As far as I can tell they all suck. And the moko case I did get is already falling apart because it's cheap synthetic poo poo.

I notice a huge comfort difference without the fatass case, and protection means crap, I've already got little dings on it despite keeping it in the case all the time until this past weekend.

I got an origami case for my TF300. I know the case was actually for the TF201, but I looked around for a while and found some reviews saying it would fit fine. Honestly, though, I've found that I have really have no use for a tablet as a media consumption device. I have to carry a laptop for work everywhere I go anyways, and I've found that gaming on a phone or tablet (on my iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets) causes my CTS to get extremely painful. The only thing I really use them for is watching videos or reading. I have an hour long train ride every morning, so it's nice to have something to entertain myself with, I'd rather spend the time being productive, which I really can't do with either kind of tablet.

The only use I could find for a tablet is drawing up plans for networks or phone system typologies. I'm a network and sales engineer for a telecommunications firm, so I spend a lot of time in meetings with my client's IT personnel, and I'd like to be able to have a device hooked up to their projector during a sales meeting, pull up some Visio diagrams, modify and annotate them while collaborating with their staff. The commission I make for these jobs is definitely enough to warrant investing a decent amount of money into a solution. I had a Thinkpad X61T for a while that was useful but after five years of field work, it was so dilapidated that I couldn't take it on sales calls.

At this point, I've been waiting for Windows 8 hardware to start emerging so I can make a decision. Basically I want something like the Asus Transformer, with a keyboard dock, a desktop dock for multiple monitor support, running Windows, with an active stylus. I figure that Asus or Lenovo is going to release something like that once Win8 drops, so in the meantime I'm just messing around trying different brands and form factors.

Looks like ASUS confirmed that they are working on the Google Nexus tablet. They didn't say a price but they did say it will release around the end of this month.

They also said it "would be awesome".

I'm guessing it'll launch right after Google I/O 2012.

I'm guessing they will hand them out to I/O attendees. Given the thousand dollar event ticket I figure Google will give out something sweet.
It'll probably be available via the Google store too. I just wish Samsung would come out and give some solid info on the Note 10.1. I'm really interested on that. But if the nexus 7 is really two hundred bucks then its not unreasonable for me to buy it anyways and wait a month for the Note. I'll just set up the Nexus as a HTPC remote and leave it in my living room. At that price its still a ton cheaper that any other RF universal remote out there.
