....I only had the directors cut, and I've only seen the original as a smaller image I never thought twice about. This is the first time I noticed the spiders on the box. Neat to notice something new about something I've been aware of for looks at a calendar, immediately turns to dust.

It’s a shame one of his lesser works is probably the one seen by the most people. Look at some of his New Mutants or Elektra covers compared to this.

Yeah. Even Jim Lee and Gabriel Dell’Otto did some covers for the early RE comics. And it’s been pointed out that that’s not even Chris on the game cover. Bill did an earlier, similar piece of art that actually used Chris.

so i am finding the aiming to be a little janky even with autoaim set to "easy" but if you have 2r i would really recommend checking out the classic angles mod. it sort of feels like a whole new game

I always think the RE1 box art looks like a teaser for a version of RE1 we never got. For clarity the RE1 we did get is brilliant. I just think that OG box art has a suggestive and mysterious tone the series has never really scratched.

anyway i did a hardcore run of RE4make. still like it a bit less than the original but it's about as good an "AAA standards" remake that i think was reasonable to expect. i still need to finish RE1make already but the same thing happens every time i play it. i get a few hours in, play something else for a bit, and then forget what i was doing or where i was supposed to go

also i am probably missing some way to cheese it but the salazar fight is so bad. every so often the ranged attack would just insta-hit me with zero time to avoid it which is a problem given how fast he flies around the arena other bosses are fine, though RE4 had shockingly good boss fight design for its era of 3d shooters

i hate the ranged acid attacks in general. it wasn't too bad for the final boss because that arena has so many health items that you can just straight up win a DPS race against him though the actual worst part of the game for me was the water room, because the escort part on the catwalk that Ashley has to do is a loving nightmare if you start it with ammo trouble

I did it legit once or twice but when I discovered the one weird trick short Spanish dudes hate I've never gone back. Also the og RE1 cover art owns bones but I was always more captivated by the zombie art on the back of the instruction manual:

I was also playing on HC and had no healing and only three rifle bullets and ten handgun rounds going in. It was pretty hellish. While RE4R's bosses are generally good, except Del Lago who has always been tedious, SW brings it to a new level. Granted there's only a few but all of them are memorable and there are none as awful as the Uruk Hai castle nonsense.

I had to restart the catwalk water room bit multiple times until I got both good drops from the vases and bonus crafting ammo. Really I should have reloaded. Horror games are always a tightrope because ammon conservation is fun in theory but absolutely nobody in history has liked getting softlocked due to ammo trouble.
