Liking the stuff that's being posted in here so far - the electro/house thread never quite worked for me. Here's 2 hours of Sven Vath cranking it out at Ultra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVLmszUvVHE Are there any good Spotify playlists I should be following for this sort of music?

Deadmau5' music is absolutely terrible and we all know this, but he is part of the problem! He is a caricature that is more famous because of his 'cool' stage presence than his actual tunes. gently caress that guy. I read a pretty interesting article on this kind of stuff the other day, it's kinda provocative but the guy makes some good points. Is America killing dance music?

Agreed, Babicz is incredible. He did a guest mix on Transitions years ago and I still dig it out occasionally. And then there's this of course, but youtube can't really do it justice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_2fFwbfkSY

Here's a couple of cool techno sets I've been listening to lately, definitely recommend checking them out! Luciano - Live @ Exit Festival 14-07-12 Nicole Moudaber - Essential Mix (23-06-12) Really digging Luciano's sound these days - such great party music!

Octave One are pretty good, so go see them! Check it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FBqrdhpPJk I really rate Bonobo as well, though they're much softer and a different style to most of the stuff posted here. Check out their stuff on youtube - I'd recommend listening to Kiara, Eyesdown and Black Sands to get a feel for their music.

Liking that Carl Craig mix! If you're a fan of more melodic deep stuff, check out this epic three parter from Pole Folder at Woodstock69. Part 1 starts off quite ploddy, but parts 2 and 3 knock it out of the park. http://soundcloud.com/pole-folder/pole-folder-woodstock69-prt1 http://soundcloud.com/pole-folder/pole-folder-woodstock69-prt2 http://soundcloud.com/pole-folder/pole-folder-woodstock69-prt3 Fantastic summer beach sounds!

William Lee posted:The more I think about it, I'm tending to agree. What's another €50 party ticket? Especially since Space is the first club I heard of in Ibiza ever since my fascination with the place began in 1999. I'll never forget this intro to Paul Oakenfold's essential mix. It's somehow been a running joke between a friend and I for 13 years. It isn't the greatest club on the island (I'm a Pacha man myself), but yeah I really wouldn't skip on going there. And that Essential Mix is amazing; in fact Oakenfold's entire series that year was just phenomenal. Listening to those sets and seeing him in Sydney pretty much locked me into trance for the next five years!

Only recently discovered Edu Imbernon but he's quickly becoming one of my favourites. Really nice techno/deep house, a bit slower and groovier than the banging stuff I normally like. A couple of recent sets I've been digging: Live at 5uinto Brasilia Cocoon Heroes @ Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE)

This is a bit more melodic than most of the stuff that gets posted here, but Henry Saiz is one of my absolute favourites and I can't resist sharing his latest mix: https://soundcloud.com/henry-saiz/the-labyrinth-15 Another one of my recent favourites, a Fabric podcast from Edu Imbernon: https://soundcloud.com/imbernonmusic/edu-imbernon-fabric-podcast And since I haven't seen her mentioned yet, here's a killer Florence remix from Maya Jane Coles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7f1jSs1qW4

Maceo Plex is a whinging crybaby, but I'm surprised that's news to anyone? I really rate Nina Kraviz and can't wait to see her out here next month! She's playing a rooftop party at Red Bull's Sydney HQ which should be off the hook. In other news, Marcelo Vasami has been killing it lately. Check out this poo poo: https://soundcloud.com/wemustradio/we-must-radio-54-dj-guest-1 Love that South American prog sound, very Hernan Cattaneo/Martin Garcia-esque.

I usually start with sets from more well-known DJs, look through track listings and dig into producers and remixers that sound interesting, rinse and repeat. For example my favourite DJ of the last few years is Henry Saiz, I first discovered him when Digweed played a few of his tracks and remixes on Kiss back in the day. From there I found Saiz's podcast, and the cycle started again.

Genres are very subjective labels, and mean different things to different people. I'd worry less about the genre and more about the DJ, personally. Some of my favourites lately, which may or may not be tech/deep/house - Henry Saiz - Hernan Cattaneo - Tensnake - Maya Jane Coles - Nina Kravicz - Pole Folder - Nick Warren - Guy J All/most of these artists have their own Soundcloud pages where you can check out their recent stuff.
