Thick bass just constantly being thrown at you, really like this.

This prob belongs in the UK Bass thread, this isn't techno. Thanks, though.

Has anyone listened to the Marcel Fengler album? I haven't yet, fielding thoughts. Finally listened to Surgeon's Force + Form yesterday and it's probably my favorite Surgeon album now.

Looking for rather thumpy techno with none of the vibe that is usually characteristic of House, because it always guarantees somebody is going to recommend me borderline tech house.

Here's my dilemma: I loving love Sandwell District, Conforce, but I can't find anything like them since my genre knowledge in techno only goes into the softer side of things (ambient dubno). Every time I look for something fast paced and thumpy, the vibes go to either old garage or tech house. I really want a deep, synthetic, energetic vibe to counter that of House, and I can't keep running back to what I know, because even classics get old.

Would appreciate any direction in this matter.

Did you listen to the Sandwell district fabric mix? I'd recommend that and last year's Ben Klock fabric mix, this year's Levon Vincent LWE mix if you haven't heard them. If you have, um, un moment. But also listen to Surgeon.

To me, though, this is more party music. I'm looking for something I'd night drive to, in contrast. Deep house is alright for that, but it's very human and organic due to the nature of house. What I try to find in techno is very synthetic music to contrast it.

If you want to drive to techno:

Carl Craig - Landcruising LP <<<<< it starts with a car turning on. basically carl craig anything
Voices From the Lake - Voices From the Lake LP
Holden - The Inheritors LP
the Maurizio CD compilation
the Daniel Avery fabric CD

I'm just starting to get into this kind of downtempo dance music--so far the only things I've really explored are Dirtybird and Anjunadeep. I also like Andrew Bayer and Ben Pearce for what that's worth. Where else should I look?

Gonna second Dusky. They had an album out on Anjunabeats or Anjunadeep or Anjuna i dont know. They're not really my style at all, but I definitely think you'll like them.

Give their Essential Mix a listen and then just follow the names around that you like etc and you'll hopefully be able to find something else that you're in to.

NPR has been covering dance music for many years now at the same ratio that they always have. I mean, they put Untrue on their list of 50 Most Important Recordings Of The Decade.

If you're in NYC next thursday go see Bee Mask. Heavily recommending. Also, avoid halcyon - maybe. I mean, it doesn't hurt to stop by, but they definitely charge more than necessary on anything that they don't distribute. Try Heaven Street in Brooklyn. It's mainly a metal shop, but there are a lot of really good techno records. My favorite shop out of all of the NYC shops.

Honestly if it wasn't for the tech-house bassline, Ben Klock would play this. As it is, nobody that matters pays too much attention to m_nus/plus 8, so i dont care at all. Even if Ostgut ton somehow released something by deadmau5 under some alias, I'd be fine with it, if only bc i trust their A&R.

I really liked the Ben Klock remix when I heard it in his fabric mix. I don't know that I'd ever buy it though, if only because - at least for me - I can only think of the ben klock fabric cd. I mean, I imagine that he made the edit / remix on his own for the fabric cd (like he did with the burial track) and then they asked him if he'd be willing to release it, etc.

lol can someone shed some light on this whole objekt vs hawtin situation?

hawtin decided to use the name objekt for a live show or something? what hahaha

been out of the internet loop for a while.

there's no real beef because TJ Objekt doesn't care enough to do anything about it and it's not like there's much _to_ do. Hawtin just decided to use Objekt - which fits in the Hawtin nomenclature (Plastikman / Kriket / etc) and tj thought it was funny. That was all. No "situation"

Pretty sure Ganzfield is one of the jams of the year.

Asusu is one third of the Livity Sound guys - so you may want to start with this compilation of their singles they put out last year:

They recently put out a compilation of all of the remixes they had made of their singles as well - both of these should be on spotify youtube. Maybe just go from there. Hope that helps.

Yeah just give Svreca's mixes a listen and that will point you in the right direction. His label, Semantica, is also a good place to look (along with like, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Prologue, and Time 2 Express (though Prologue/T2X can be v hit / miss)

Some of Dozzy's stuff - but not all - might be up your alley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXlMVC_71gE
Maybe Varg as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6Czc_RlVxc
Some of the things on Field Records as well - this compilation from last year had this winner on it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0g22m4QsFM

Not quite as stadium status emotive as Recondite has the tendency to be but might be at least headed in the right direction.
