I just saw that for the first time at a used book store last week, and almost bought it, but didn't because I knew nothing about it--now I think I'll grab it next time I'm there. Thanks, Mr. Bird!

Is there some Spawn omnibus that collects large phonebook sized portions of the series? I know Witchblade has one, but I figured that Witchblade was considered worse than Spawn.
Why yes there is! It comes out later this month, and collects #1-49 in black and white.

Comics Alliance wrote a thing about this era, and there's a big chunk about the #8–11 guest star writer extravaganza.

I was expecting more from The Massive as well--overall, pretty boring, and I honestly don't care enough about what happened (hid from another boat whoaaaa) in #1 to keep going. Also, "weathered" would be the last word to describe how the characters looked. One guy's hair was a bit scruffy, I guess. Mary looked ready for a night on the town at all times, though, and looked like she came straight from a photo shoot. Maybe I'll grab a trade if I find it cheap, but after all the hype...eh. The cover was easily the best part.

I've slowly been getting caught up on Hellboy and BPRD. I'm caught up on Hellboy to current. As far as BPRD, I've read up through The Long Death. I think I'm in love with BPRD. I put off reading it for a long time, and it turns out it's my preferred series of the 2, and one of my favorite books on the shelf. I'm having a bit of trouble with the reading order though. What follows The Long Death? It's a bit hard to keep track of. Any good reading order guides out there?
This should help.

That's actually the primary reason I haven't read it. It's a bad excuse, I know, especially since I like Hickman, but I really do find the art to be incredibly off-putting. I realize it isn't technically deficient, but it actively repulses me.
You are missing out on one of the best comics being put out, then. The art totally works for the series--give it another shot.

Guys. Guys I have a confession. I...I didn't really like Happy. Something about it just never totally clicked in my head.
Yeah, I didn't really like it too much either. It was paced terribly, it went over the same beats over and over and over again, and the payoff was fairly nonexistent. The best part was Robertson's artwork, but the story was really nothing special.

Comixology has #1-7 by Liefeld and then it jumps to #21 by Graham. Was there a reboot done by Graham? Is that where I should start if I were to get into it?
Yes (kind of?) and yes.

As someone who has never read The Maxx, I'm actually pretty excited about this.
Well, that's unexpected (the remastering, not you not reading it). I've had the trades for-what-seems-like-ever now, and never thought them wanting, but I'm hoping that this recoloring is a more successful effort than a lot of others posted on these boards. I hope we get some comparison shots soon.

side note: The Maxx is awesome and I hope you get around to it.

Is Five Fists of Science worth picking up for $10? I like most of what I've read by Matt Fraction (Hawkguy, Immortal Iron Fist, Iron Man, and FF), and the concept reminds me a bit of Tales from the Bully Pulpit, which I loved. But I think I'm the one guy who doesn't enjoy Manhattan Projects, so I'm not sure if it's anything like that.
It's fun, early Fraction. $10 seems high--if you can find it for cheaper, go for it.

I had completely forgotten that the new LEOG: Nemo HC (River of Ghosts) came out, so that was a pleasant surprise when I saw it on the racks this week. Much less action this time around, but does a good job of bringing the story of Janni, her ancestry, and her legacy, to a satisfying end.

Annotations here.
