If you take two weeks of from lifting, you can spring right back into it after a few days of trainup where you'll be a little sore. Take two weeks of from running though and hoooooly crap. Proper form and breathing will do wonders for your run. If you find your time drops drastically after a short break, it could be that you're running inefficiently. Try some deep breathing exercises first, then try applying them to your run.
