What's the best way to clean and sanitize old growlers? I got some back from an old roommate - two full-size glass, one half-size glass, one half-size stainless steel - and I want to make sure they're clean for use. As far as I can tell they were fully rinsed, emptied, and dried after their last use, and have been sealed since then; there doesn't seem to be any residue/growth inside and only a very faint odor from a couple when I open them up, but that could just be stale air. That said, though, I don't think they've been used in at least 3 years, and I really want to be certain before I try to get them filled. Most of the stuff I find online seems to be aimed at cleaning growlers that had been used a lot more recently. Thanks!

Does anyone know any good widely available pepper beers? A brewery near my hometown had a habanero peach wheat ale that I loved, but now I'm in Tennessee and typically the only ones I see are Mexican chocolate stouts and it's getting too warm for those. Probably looking still around the habanero heat level; I had some Ghost Face Killah a while back and it took five of us to drink the bottle because no one could stomach it.

Based on the photos and check-ins on Untappd, it looks like Ballast Point still makes Habanero Sculpin.

This was the first one I thought of but they don't distribute to Tennessee, or at least not anywhere around me.

Any bottle shops or breweries near the Richmond, CA / Vallejo, CA area I should check out?

It's a little farther south, but Drake's Brewing Co. in San Leandro was pretty much my go-to for a lazy weekend afternoon when I was in living in the east bay; they always had a bunch of interesting, experimental stuff on tap in addition to all their usuals. If you don't feel like driving, they also have a taproom/brewpub in within walking distance of one of the Oakland muni stops, although I don't remember exactly which one because I was closer to the brewery. There's also 21st Amendment right around the corner from the Drake's brewery, but I only went there a couple times and was kind of unimpressed; might as well check them both out if you decide to make the drive down that way anyway, though.
