That is an amazing tap list and I'm going to think strongly about heading there this weekend. My usual spot is Churchill's, which has great things on tap and great things in bottles, but they can't challenge that list.

The list on the site was kind of out of date but really the list was equally as good. Pliny, Blind Pig, Damnation, Sanctification, Speedway, Sculpin, etc etc.

The Sculpin was fresh as hell too, it was like sticking my nose in a cup full of pellet hops.

Chill_Bebop covered it pretty well with those links, but I'll say my favorite brewery to visit is Lost Abbey. Everyone on staff is really cool, and the head bar guy, Jason, is full of useful trivia and one of the most knowledgeable people about beer (Lost Abbey and otherwise) around. Protip: bring a bottle or two of stuff from wherever you live as a gift, they look kindly on that kind of thing. Lost Abbey is also very close to Stone - their brewery was actually Stone's original one before they expanded to the new location - which is worth a visit to wander around the Beer Nerd Backyard. Stone's taplist isn't great compared to the better bars, and the food's a bit expensive, but there are worse ways to spend an afternoon.

We did the Brewhop tour and included Lost Abbey as part of it. My god fresh Wipeout is amazing. I thought Hop-15 was a little too abrasive, but I enjoyed my stay, as they let me try some 2010 Angel's Share. I missed the Framobois opening by two days :(

I wish I had known about the local beer thing, I couldve filled my beer suitcase with stuff to give my tour guide and lost abbey guys. Tomme the head brewer/owner seemed like a cool guy.

I never did get to try any Alpine, every bar I tried was out of it all.

Also nice I wasnt on a bus, it was just me and the wife. Not a fan of Bus tours.

Nelson and Exponential Hoppiness are both excellent. If you're willing to spend more, Chez Monieux is quite good and a nice foray into non-IBU territory. Some of their more unusual stuff is kind of cool as well. Willy Vanilly was a one-time purchase for me, but it's interesting. Mandarin Nectar is quite good, but Gouden Vallei would be my vote for the odd thing I liked best. It's hard to go wrong with Alpine.

I'm pretty familiar with what's good there, but are those things usually at the shop? My question was more along the lines of 'what's always there'

As for Blue Moon, I have a certain amount of respect for Coors' handling of that line of beers. Blue Moon is relatively cheap, not powered by marketing, and widely-available in addition to being a decent beer that has become a gateway drug for people. Blue Moon is an approachable wit that paves the way for a whole world of Belgian styles for a lot of people. I have about a dozen regular customers that started with Blue Moon, on-tap, somewhere and are now taking home Allagash, Ommegang, Duvel, etc. Some have forsaken the lighter, tamer end of the spectrum entirely, and are buying Old Rasputin and Yeti in place the of the Michelob Ultra and the Hoegaarden that used to fill their carts.

Agree with the statement that Blue Moon is a good starting place for BMC drinkers, but not powered by marketing? I see a ton of commercials for it. Of course it isnt like the regular lineup, but it does have a good amount of marketing power.

Why even finish a bad beer? What's the point? If you don't want it, why finish it? To get drunk I guess? Maybe when you're in the industry and surrounded by underwhelming beers all the time it's different.

Got to try Rock Bottom (Arlington)'s award winning espresso stout last night (GABF Gold 2009, WBC 2012 Bronze).

I'd say it was very good, light & creamy mouthfeel, almost like a coffee-fied Milk Stout Nitro.
