In response, Arian Foster decided to make those opening lines of that column his twitter av

https://twitter.com/ArianFoster

Also, let me post the end of his column after last year's Super Bowl loss, because he felt Boston was going into sports hell

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2012/02/06/giants_edge_patriots_in_echo_of_gnawing_2008_super_bowl_upset/?page=full

When the Stanley Cup Champion Bruins visited the White House Jan. 23, President Obama said, “The Bruins, the Sox, the Celtics, now the Patriots. Enough already, Boston. What’s going on?’’

Nothing, Mr. President. Nothing at all. After a decade of dominance, New England seems to be shifting back toward the Big Middle. The Bruins have been in a midseason slump. The Celtics are calcifying before our eyes. The Red Sox are pinching pennies, falling further behind their rivals in the American League. And the Patriots have lost two straight Super Bowls in the final minute against the New York Football Giants.

Instead of celebrating a grand slam - championships in every major sport over a period of four years and four months - New Englanders are spitting out pieces of their broken luck, bracing for the avalanche of grief from those annoying New Yorkers.

Again.

I just took my kids on a week-long Disney trip and I find that pretty loving hard to believe. :colbert:

In that ESPN book it said they were the reason Disney bought ABC in the 90's. I even remember about a decade ago Comcast wanted to buy Disney mainly for ESPN.

As for newspapers, between Murdoch just completing the spinoff of his newspapers and Tribune (re: LA Times/Chicago Tribune) announcing their plains for a spinoff today I'd agree about them dying.

To get back on-topic a bit, that ratings drop didn't include football. But last year ratings for college/NFL games on ESPN were down too:

quote:

What the hell? ESPN does do the lion's share of its ratings business in the second half of the year. That's when Monday Night Football kicks into gear, along with the college football season. But last year wasn't a banner year on that front, either: In 2012, ESPN and ESPN2 were down 2 and 8 percent for the year in ratings for total-day viewers, respectively. ESPN was flat in primetime ratings, and ESPN2 was down 12 percent.

Which is the worse Peter King: the sportswriter or the lawmaker?

I used to live in the Congressman's district, so it's a huge push. I did like how the Congressman threw a fit over Sandy relief after the fiscal cliff was avoided, though.

Also, I give Manish credit because of all the people I follow he was the first to suggest a special Obama press conference one Sunday night was about the death of Bin Laden.

And Hugh Douglas was just fired from ESPN for calling Michael Smith an Uncle Tom.

Phil Mushnick, has he continued his war against Pro Wrestling that he carried through the 90s?

Last time I read him a few years ago he brought up the XFL like it still meant something.

Also, I heard ex-ESPN commentator and failed attempted Rams owner Rush Limbaugh heap wide praise for that Mushnick column. That is all.
