A few short intros: Seeing Strangers tonight in Sydney, supporting Closure in Moscow. Despite what the descripstions say on Youtube, I can't find any actual release info for their album. These guys are from Sydney and one of them rocks an awesome Handlebar stache. Red Brick - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzdAoESuV-w Searching the Low - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hn4...lf=list_related Bred for Breeding - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXseS9dOA28&feature=related I first saw those guys last year when they supported Grinspoon. Who have been around for a somewhere between "a while" and "ages". Here's a couple of my favourite album of theirs. Chemical Heart - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ5-Uvtepe8 Lost Control - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSkd6HJThlo Anyway, back to Strangers. They're touring with Calling All Cars. CaC are a Melbourne band and have been around since early 2010. I saw these guys open for Ac/DC, support Grinspoon and then a couple of times headlining. Two albums out. Both pretty good. Here's the Best from Album 1: Hold, Hold, Fire - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baMZJvqowmI And the Best from the second Album: Reptile - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUErq94zW0g If anyone went to BDO Sydney, the lead singer got knocked out about 2 or 3 songs into their set when he tried to crowd surf. Funny stuff. And Butterfly Effect who have been doing the circuit for 10 years are doing a farewell tour for their lead singer. Here's a song off of each of their three albums. Crave - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnPyDklAk7Q&feature=related A Slow Descent - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLUdEYORZB4 In These Hands - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dY22Jh-NEo&feature=related

It was only a start. I figured if no one knew grinspoon, that would be a good start. One of these days Im going to want to start trying to find people to play with. None of my friends play so it's hard. Did you guys mostly know the people you play with first? I need to find some muso friends, haha.

Back from Spectrum last night. Opening act was The Dead Love, first time I've seen or heard them and they're all right. I would listen to more of them. Strangers had a a good set, and the crowd packed in for them. Still no word on when there's going to be an album release. Any other Sydney goons go last night? I had to bail before Closure in Moscow came on, but I wasn't the only one. A group behind me left at the same time who pretty much only went for Strangers too. This is the first time I've listened to A+J, and I swear it would be better without the vocals. The songs leave like no impression, just slips off my ears like water off a duck's back. Birds of Tokyo are ok, though. I wouldn't listen to them heavily, but I can stomach them. But there's only one song I would say I actually like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-duknTJL-Rg - Silhouettic. Their other songs just don't stick with me. They work pretty well as filler music for my ipod. Good for every once in a while.

What's bad about Horden? I think they are mainly talking about smaller bands, rather than well established bands. Enmore, Horden, Metro usually only have bigger shows on, which isn't exactly a good place to see or find new music. Or on the otherside, for bands to get gigs at.

2ndclasscitizen posted:The sounds there is weird, I was watching Silversun Pickups there and if I had my earplugs in I couldn't hear any guitar, and then if I took them out no vocals, it was odd. Was that when they supported Birds of Tokyo? I don't think I had that problem. And the few times I have been there, I haven't had a problem with sound. I have always been at the back seats though.

Oh god. I remember these guys opening for someone at the Horden. Probably Them Crooked Vultures, and god they were horrible. Every song the singer would do some high pitched scream into the mic "YAYAYAYA!".

I've seen DZ Deathrays way back before they changed their name and I'm not quite sold on their newer sound. Though they aren't that bad. Pretty much everything else on the list I either haven't heard or find annoying. Hoodoo's excluded. I'm not hip enough to know new music. I spend most of my time under a rock, but here's something from an album coming out this month: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIsGzT6VIDY - Strangers: Persona Non Grata. If you're in Sydney, they are playing the Landsdowne tonight and every thursday this month. And they've been playing the Cherry Bar in Melbourne all of last month and again this month. Bonus song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3XdXlmiWlQ&feature=relmfu Bred for Breeding. I've probably posted this before, but since they are doing shows currently it's a heads up. Mainstream rock sound.
